The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) might have taken back the non-cooperation directive against Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh, but the world cannot stop talking about his exit from 'Don 3' and the subsequent fallout with producer, director and actor Farhan Akhtar. The issue has been dominating the social media discourse, and the topic also recently came up during Varun Dhawan's appearance on comedian Tanmay Bhat's YouTube channel.

As Varun Dhawan reacted to popular memes about himself, Tanmay referenced the major Bollywood controversy and poked fun at Varun’s box-office performance compared to the blockbuster success of 'Dhurandhar'.

At one point, Tanmay Bhat referenced Varun Dhawan's reputation in the industry, saying, "Varun, anyone who has ever worked with you has always said that despite being a big Bollywood star, you’re still like professional, committed, reliable. Which is, incidentally, exactly the kind of actor that Farhan Akhtar is looking for right now. I don’t know, maybe you should."

The comment left everyone, including Varun, in splits. Other comedians Rohan Joshi, Piyush Sharma and Zakir Khan also couldn't control their laughter. One comedian said, "Don No.1", while another added, "Main tera Don." It is worth noting that it was Varun himself who came up with the title, ‘Main Tera Don’.

Speaking of the controversy, it all started with Ranveer Singh walking out of 'Don 3', a project he was supposed to headline after the formal announcement in 2023. Before exiting the film, Ranveer had reportedly participated in script-reading sessions, action workshops and look tests. He exited the project days after the blockbuster success of Aditya Dhar's 'Dhurandhar'.

This exit led to a public dispute with Farhan's Excel Entertainment over the costs incurred during the film’s pre-production phase. The matter eventually reached FWICE, with Farhan claiming that the actor’s withdrawal caused losses of around Rs 45 crore. The issue escalated further after the FWICE issued a shadow ban, launching a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer.

The body later withdrew the directive following requests from other industry associations. Reportedly, Ranveer also sent FWICE a legal notice.

The Producers Guild of India released a statement condemning last-minute exits from film projects. While the Guild did not name any individual, it confirmed receiving formal complaints from member producers, including Excel Entertainment and Panorama Studios International. As of now, no resolution has been reached between Ranveer Singh and Excel Entertainment.

Coming back to Varun Dhawan, his latest release 'Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai', which also stars Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde, is running in cinemas. The film also stars Rakesh Bedi, Jimmy Shergill, Maniesh Paul and Mouni Roy. The movie’s India gross currently stands at Rs 32.93 crore, while its India net collection has reached Rs 27.50 crore.
