‘Suryaa: Ant Se Aarambh Tak’ marks the Bollywood debut of Malayalam filmmaker M. Padmakumar. Padmakumar is known for directing acclaimed Malayalam films like ‘Joseph’ (2018), ‘Kanal’ (2015), and the recent ‘Uyir’ (2026). ‘Suryaa’ is reportedly a Hindi adaptation of the critically acclaimed 2018 Malayalam thriller ‘Joseph’, written by Shahi Kabir.

In the film, Sunny Deol reportedly plays a complex character – a retired police officer drawn into an investigation that forces him to confront a web of crime and secrets from his own past. The narrative explores heavy themes of justice, moral conflict, and the consequences of unresolved truths.

A press release for the film stated, “The story follows a man drawn into a web of unanswered questions and buried truths. What begins as an investigation soon takes him into territory far more complex than he anticipated, setting the stage for a gripping crime drama driven by mystery, emotion and confrontation.”

Producer Kamal Mukut shared some insight into how the project came to be. “I signed Sunny Deol for two films — Gadar 2 and SURYAA,” he revealed in a statement. “We began with Gadar 2, and it became history. Motivated by its success, and drawing upon my experience of more than five decades in the industry, I created SURYAA — a story of a common man that will surely touch every life. The film takes the audience through a never-before-seen avatar of Sunny Deol, interestingly woven across three phases of his life journey. This gripping thriller is designed to transport audiences into two different eras.”

Joining Sunny Deol in this dark thriller is a compelling ensemble cast. The film features Ravi Kishan and Pragya Jaiswal in pivotal roles. The cast also includes Jisshu Sengupta, Tinu Anand, Manish Wadhwa, Tanushree Chakraborty, Rohit Tiwari, and Anoop Trivedi.

Directed by M. Padmakumar, ‘Suryaa’ is produced by MM Moviez. Deepak Mukut, Hemmant Mukut, and Lokesh Mukut serve as producers alongside Kamal Mukut. Zee Music Company is associated with the film's music.

Mark your calendars – ‘Suryaa’ is set to hit theatres on November 20, 2026.
