The motion poster of 'Batwara 1947' gives us a sneak peek into one of the darkest chapters in the history of the Indian subcontinent. The poster perfectly captures the chaos and raging flames, providing the fans with a sense of fear, uncertainty, and violence that accompanied the Partition of India and Pakistan in 1947.

One of the dark, sepia-toned poster visuals shows Sunny and Shabana Azmi separated by the partition. Another glimpse shows Sunny standing at the centre holding a blazing torch. Preity Zinta is spotted behind him, looking frightened, while a young girl clings to her for safety, and Karan Deol stares ahead with concern.

The project also marks the reunion between Sunny and Rajkumar Santoshi after 'Ghayal' and 'Damini'. Aamir and Rajkumar Santoshi are also collaborating for the first time since 'Andaz Apna Apna'. The music is by AR Rahman, with lyrics by Javed Akhtar.

The movie will also mark Preity Zinta's return to the big screen. Sunny and Preity have previously worked together on projects like 'The Hero: Love Story of a Spy', 'Farz', and 'Bhaiaji Superhit'. Actor Abhimanyu Singh is believed to be playing the villain in the film and will be seen locking horns with Sunny.

According to reports, the film is based on Asghar Wajahat’s renowned play 'Jis Lahore Nai Dekhya, O Jamyai Ni'. The story revolves around a Muslim family that migrates from Lucknow to Lahore and is allocated a haveli vacated by a departing Hindu family.

However, things take a dramatic turn when they realise the Hindu family is still staying in the house and refuses to leave.
