Kiran Rao has finally reacted to Sandeep Reddy Vanga's comments on Aamir Khan's films.

'Animal', directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Deol and Triptii Dimri, released in theatres in December 2023, but the new Hindi film continues to dominate the public discourse even now. In the latest entertainment news, Aamir Khan's second ex-wife Kiran Rao has reacted to Sandeep Reddy Vanga's comments about her and Aamir Khan's films. For the unversed, Sandeep Reddy Vanga had earlier called out Aamir Khan's film 'Dil', after Kiran Rao had voiced her opinion about Vanga's films being misogynistic.

In an interview with the Quint, Kiran Rao said that she never took the names of Vanga's films and spoke about misogyny in general. She also lauded Aamir Khan for being one of the few people to have apologised for their problematic work in retrospect.

"I have never commented on Mr Sandeep’s films because I have never seen them. I have often spoken on misogyny and the representation of women on screen. I have talked about it on various platforms at various times. But I have never taken the name of any film because it is not about the specific film. Why Mr Vanga has assumed that I was talking about his film you’ll have to ask him. I have never seen his film,” Rao told The Quint.

"He is one of the few people who apologised, for specifically the song that Mr Vanga was talking about, which is 'Khambe Jaisi Khadi Hai' and other such films. There are very few people who would look at their body of work and apologise for something that they think is problematic in retrospect. There's an episode in Satyameva Jayate Season 3 where he talks about this. He is one of the people who has stepped up and taken responsibility, as a creator and as a person speaking to a mass audience. That's really laudable," she added.

Speaking further, Kiran Rao said, "If Mr Reddy has something to say to Aamir, he should tell him man to man. I am not responsible for Aamir's work or Aamir Khan. So, I wish Mr Reddy would address his questions directly to Mr Khan."

Earlier, in an interview with Dainik Bhaskar, without naming Kiran Rao, Sandeep Reddy Vanga addressed the criticism, saying Aamir Khan's film 'Dil' also had a scene where his character threatens Madhuri Dixit’s character with rape and the two eventually fall in love with each other.

“Some people don’t understand what they are saying. One assistant director showed me the article from this superstar’s second ex-wife where she was saying that Baahubali and Kabir Singh promote misogyny, promote stalking. I think she doesn’t understand the difference between stalking and approaching," Sandeep Reddy Vanga told Dainik Bhaskar.

“I want to tell that woman that go and ask Aamir Khan about the song ‘Khambe jaisi khadi hai’, what was that? Then come back to me. If you remember Dil, he almost attempts rape, he makes her feel like she has done the wrong thing. And they fall in love after that. What was all that? I don’t understand why they attack like that before checking the surroundings," he added.

Talking about 'Dil', Madhuri Dixit’s character accuses Aamir Khan’s character of raping her. It is then that he threatens her with rape but lets her go.

Speaking of 'Animal', the new Hindi film collected more than Rs 500 crore in India, and globally, it ended its run with a collection of more than Rs 900 crore.

Recently, Ranbir Kapoor won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor for his performance in 'Animal'.
