Sandeep Reddy Vanga said Kiran Rao should ask Aamir Khan about 'Dil' before questioning him for misogyny in his films.

'Animal' directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor and Triptii Dimri, released in theatres in December 2023, but the new Hindi movie still continues to dominate the public chatter. For the unversed, the new Hindi film recently premiered on Netflix, and many are criticising the film for its portrayal of toxic masculinity. In the latest Bollywood movie news, Sandeep Reddy Vanga was asked about the detractors of his film, and it was then that the director brought up an interview by Aamir Khan's second ex-wife Kiran Rao, where she stated that films like 'Baahubali' and 'Kabir Singh' promote stalking.

Without naming Kiran Rao, Sandeep Reddy Vanga addressed the criticism, saying Aamir Khan's film 'Dil' also had a scene where his character threatens Madhuri Dixit’s character with rape and the two eventually fall in love with each other.

“Some people don’t understand what they are saying. One assistant director showed me the article from this superstar’s second ex-wife where she was saying that Baahubali and Kabir Singh promote misogyny, promote stalking. I think she doesn’t understand the difference between stalking and approaching," Sandeep Reddy Vanga told Dainik Bhaskar.

“I want to tell that woman that go and ask Aamir Khan about the song ‘Khambe jaisi khadi hai’, what was that? Then come back to me. If you remember Dil, he almost attempts rape, he makes her feel like she has done the wrong thing. And they fall in love after that. What was all that? I don’t understand why they attack like that before checking the surroundings," he added.

For the unversed, Kiran Rao gave an interview to Times of India in November, saying 'Baahubali's lead character strips the lead heroine of her agency.

She also named 'Kabir Singh' as one film that glorifies stalking as a "form of wooing a woman”.

Talking about 'Dil', Madhuri Dixit’s character accuses Aamir Khan’s character of raping her. It is then that he threatens her with rape but lets her go.

Speaking of 'Animal', the new Hindi film collected more than Rs 500 crore in India, and globally, it ended its run with a collection of more than Rs 900 crore.

Recently, Ranbir Kapoor won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor for his performance in 'Animal'.
