“Jealous Of…”: Kangana Ranaut Calls Bollywood “Hopeless Place”
Kangana Ranaut called Bollywood a “hopeless” place, saying that people in the fraternity have tried to pull her down.
Actress-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut is gearing up for the release of her upcoming directorial 'Emergency'. In the new Hindi movie, Kangana Ranaut will be playing the role of former India Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi. Kangana Ranaut is currently busy promoting her upcoming venture. And during one of her latest interviews, the actress suggested that she was shadow-banned by Bollywood. Kangana Ranaut also called the industry a "hopeless" place, claiming that people in the fraternity have tried to pull her down.
In an interview with Mashable India, the Bollywood actress said, “I am a no-nonsense person, people who vibe with me, they love me, but there are very few people who have a problem with me. Otherwise, if you see, the way I won the election, I also receive a lot of love from the industry. So, it proves that only a few people have a problem with me. Is the problem in me or them? It could be that there is a problem in them, isn’t it? They should think about it.”
“Bollywood is, I am honestly saying, it’s a hopeless place. Kuch nahi inka hone wala. Because, one, they are jealous of talent. If they find someone talented they go behind them to finish them, unka career barbaad kar dete hai, unko boycott kar dete hai. Itna ganda PR kar kar ke unko badnaam kar dete hai,” she added.
When asked whether this all happens in secret, Kangana Ranaut said, “Where internally? They do it externally, in the open. That’s how they run people’s careers. They support only those from their clan, those who are mediocre and indulge in flattery, become their doormats. They function on convenience, if that’s how it is then how will anyone do good in the world?”
Kangana Ranaut also said that the current filmmakers are supporting mediocre people, and making camps.
“It is their parents, the older generation of directors, who had the attitude of politeness, whether it is Yash Chopra or K Asif, Bimal Roy, Guru Dutt, you see their integrity, they were different kind of people. Look at the people today, they are all into making camps. The worst thing is that they hate talent,” she said.
Speaking of 'Emergency', the film is slated to release in cinemas on September 6, 2024. 'Emergency' also stars Anupam Kher, the late Satish Kaushik, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, Mahima Chaudhry and Milind Soman.
The movie has been directed and produced by Kangana Ranaut. It has been backed by Zee Studios and Manikarnika Films.
Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut was last seen in ‘Tejas’. The film, which clashed with Vikrant Massey’s ‘12th Fail’ in October 2023, tanked miserably at the box office.
