Jai Jai Ram: ‘Ramayana’ First Song Featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi Out
Released on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, the devotional track marks the beginning of the film’s music campaign.

The much-anticipated ‘Ramayana: Part 1’ has unveiled the first piece of its musical identity with ‘Jai Jai Ram’, bringing together composer AR Rahman, lyricist Dr Kumar Vishwas and celebrated singers Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal. Released on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, the devotional track marks the beginning of the film’s music campaign and offers audiences an early glimpse into the emotional world being created around the epic.

Alongside the song, the makers released a new motion poster featuring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Sai Pallavi as Sita, placing the bond between Siya and Ram at the centre of the film’s first musical reveal. The team described the launch as a celebration of the “timeless bond of Siya Ram”, signalling the emotional foundation of the project even as the film is being mounted on a massive scale.

AR Rahman revealed that creating ‘Jai Jai Ram’ involved finding a balance between the intimacy of devotion and the grandeur expected from a major cinematic adaptation. According to the composer, the repeated invocation of Shri Ram’s name forms the heart of the track. He said the composition was designed to retain the purity of a prayer while gradually expanding into a cinematic experience.

“At the heart of ‘Jai Jai Ram’ is the simple and powerful repetition of Shri Ram’s name. Musically, the intention was to preserve the purity and intimacy of a prayer while allowing the composition to grow into a cinematic song. Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal bring their own distinct emotional expression to Dr. Kumar Vishwas’s words, while always remaining true to the devotion at the centre of the song. I hope audiences find both a sense of peace and a personal connection in it,” he said in an official release.
For Kumar Vishwas, the song was built around a phrase that carries a much larger spiritual meaning. The lyricist said Jai Jai Ram uses simple language to explore the relationship between a devotee and Shri Ram, rather than attempting to define or describe the deity himself.
Producer Namit Malhotra said the decision to introduce the song on Ganesh Chaturthi was deeply symbolic. With Shri Ram serving as the emotional centre of Ramayana, Malhotra said the first song was intended to reflect the values and devotion underlying the larger production. He also stressed that despite the scale of the film, its foundation remains rooted in emotion and spirituality.
The release date was considered particularly significant because Ganesh Chaturthi is traditionally associated with auspicious new beginnings. “Shri Ram is at the heart of Ramayana and, for generations, has been the guide we turn to through every phase of life. In moments of darkness, we seek his strength. In moments of uncertainty, we look to his path. And in moments of joy, we remember him with gratitude. Jai Jai Ram comes from that deeply personal and timeless relationship we share with Shri Ram. While Ramayana is being created on a great scale, its true foundation lies in its emotion, its values and its devotion. With Jai Jai Ram, we wanted our first song to reflect that soul, to celebrate Shri Ram not only as someone we worship, but as the protector, guide and source of strength we carry within us. Beginning this musical journey on Ganesh Chaturthi felt especially meaningful because, in our culture, every auspicious beginning starts by seeking the blessings of Lord Ganesha,” he said.
The musical journey is expected to continue, with AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer also scheduled to come together for a special musical event in London. The film is now moving towards the final phase of production, with the patchwork shoot reportedly completed and post-production underway.
The makers are also expected to begin a major international promotional campaign as the theatrical release approaches.
Directed as a two-part cinematic adaptation of the epic, 'Ramayana: Part 1' is scheduled for a worldwide release on November 6, 2026. The second instalment is planned for Diwali 2027.
The film features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman and Arun Govil as King Dasharatha.
