‘Aashiqui’ star Rahul Roy recently found himself at the centre of an unwanted social media storm, but the film industry is stepping up to show their unwavering support. After being subjected to relentless trolling and mockery over his recent Instagram reels, the actor issued a powerful and emotional statement, calling out his detractors and shedding light on his current financial and legal battles. In response, a wave of solidarity has emerged from some of the biggest names in the entertainment fraternity.

The controversy ignited when a series of Instagram reels surfaced, featuring Rahul Roy alongside content creator Dr Vanita Ghadage Desai. In one particular video, the actor was seen recreating the magic of the 90s by dancing to the hit track ‘Tere Dar Pe Sanam’ from his 1993 film, ‘Phir Teri Kahaani Yaad Aayi’, which originally starred him opposite Pooja Bhatt. While the nostalgic throwback left some social media users expressing genuine concern for the actor, a significant portion of the internet resorted to harsh trolling, dismissing the collaborative videos as “cringe”.

Refusing to stay silent, Rahul Roy took to Instagram to directly address the negativity. In a strongly worded note, the actor slammed those ridiculing his "simplicity" and "struggles." He made a heartfelt plea, urging his critics to help him secure genuine and decent work so he can pay off his pending legal dues, rather than tearing him down.

“I do my work with honesty and modesty. I have some legal matters to pay for, and these are not from today—they are from before the brain stroke happened. If you mock my simplicity or make fun of my struggles, it says less about me and more about you,” Rahul Roy wrote in his statement.

Taking a firm stand on his dignity, he added, “At least I am earning through hard work, not by mocking others.”

The actor, who suffered a brain stroke in 2020 while shooting for the film ‘LAC — Live the Battle’ in Kargil, also emphasised the critical importance of staying active post-recovery. He stated that working gives him a sense of purpose and responsibility. "I want to work for as long as I am alive. It keeps my mind active... Yes, it may hurt a little sometimes, but you cannot break me," he declared.

Following his candid revelation about his financial strain and legal hurdles, the entertainment industry was quick to wrap its arms around the actor. Filmmaker Farah Khan was among the very first to lead the charge, heading to the comment section to write, “Good luck to you Rahul”.

Soon after, a flood of encouragement poured in. Action star Sonu Sood commented, “Keep Rocking Brother”, while veteran actor Shilpa Shirodkar offered profound words of wisdom, stating, “We must to do what we have to do Rahul… let the others do the talking… All the best to you forever.”

Anupam Kher chimed in to remind Rahul Roy of his worth, writing, “You are the BESTEST”. Actor and host Maniesh Paul also expressed his admiration, commenting, “Love and respect sir. More power to you!”

The outpouring of love didn't stop there. Several other prominent television and film personalities, including Nikitin Dheer, Tina Datta, Karanvir Bohra, Tannaz Irani, Vatsal Sheth, Apurva Agnihotri, and Mahhi Vij, left heartwarming messages such as “More Power To You” and “praying for you”.

Rahul Roy became an overnight sensation with his debut in the 1990 blockbuster ‘Aashiqui’, later starring in films like ‘Junoon’ (1992), ‘Dilwale Kabhi Na Hare’ (1992), and ‘Gumrah’ (1993) before experiencing a career decline. He later returned to the spotlight by winning the inaugural season of the reality show ‘Bigg Boss’ in 2007.

Now, fully recovered from his 2020 health scare, Rahul Roy’s resilience and the overwhelming backing of his peers prove that he remains a deeply respected figure.
