The ‘Bhooth Bangla’ trailer promises a spooky yet hilarious ride.

Akshay Kumar’s ‘Bhooth Bangla’ trailer has finally dropped, and it promises a full-blown haunted-house entertainer packed with old-school horror, family chaos, comic confusion, and a sinister mystery buried deep inside a sprawling palace. Directed by Priyadarshan, the trailer does not waste time setting up its eerie mood. It opens with ominous visuals of giant palace doors, a locked entrance being opened, and the sense that something forbidden has just been disturbed.

The atmosphere is heavy from the word go, with thunderclouds, dimly lit corridors, and title cards teasing “a curse thousand years old” that is “about to awaken.”

The trailer introduces the legend of Vadhusur, an ancient entity that hasn't just remained in the shadows but has grown significantly more powerful over time. The narrative hints at a sinister plot where someone is actively attempting to bring this evil back to life, triggering a prophecy that appears impossible to escape.

Akshay Kumar plays the character of Arjun Acharya, a man who seems blissfully – or perhaps stubbornly – skeptical of the supernatural. Despite the ominous warnings, Akshay’s character moves into a massive, sprawling palace, jokingly dismissing the idea of staying in a lodge instead.

The manor is steeped in dark lore, with locals speaking of black magic, mysterious temples, and ghosts. The house itself is described as bizarre, with pianos playing on their own at midnight and terrifying screams echoing through the halls. In a classic comedic beat, Arjun attempts to rationalize these occurrences, claiming he is the one playing the piano and doing the screaming himself.

The stakes rise as the trailer reveals the setting: Mangalpur, a village where no one dares to get married. Legend has it that Vadhusur will descend upon any wedding with an army of bats to kill those involved. This curse has left the area abandoned by the living, making it a playground for the dead. The manor is further isolated by Pishaach Van (Ghost Forest), a name that leads to a hilarious misunderstanding involving Akshay's character.

The trailer showcases a stellar ensemble, including: Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Wamiqa Gabbi, Rajpal Yadav, Jisshu Sengupta, Manoj Joshi, Mithila Palkar, Rajesh Sharma and the late Asrani.

From the chaotic group dynamics to the perfectly timed visual gags, the trailer has Priyadarshan’s fingerprints all over it. Whether it's Sunder (Rajpal Yadav) being treated like a "temple bell" by those around him or the sudden jump scares that pivot immediately into comedy, the film looks set to recapture the magic of movies like ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ and ‘Stree’.

Presented by Balaji Telefilms Ltd. in association with Cape Of Good Films, ‘Bhooth Bangla’ is produced by Akshay Kumar, Shobha Kapoor, and Ektaa R. Kapoor.

With Akshay Kumar leading the madness, ‘Bhooth Bangla’ looks set to serve both chills and chuckles. Fans eager to experience the madness won't have to wait for the standard Friday release, as paid previews for the film are set to begin in theatres on April 16, from 9 PM onwards.
