Akshay Kumar and Priydarshan's much-awaited horror comedy ‘Bhooth Bangla’ has been postponed amid the massive success of 'Dhurandhar 2'.
The box office landscape is currently witnessing an unprecedented storm, and its name is ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’. Ranveer Singh’s highly anticipated spy thriller is not just ruling the ticket windows but is now reshaping the release calendar for other major Bollywood tentpoles. In a strategic move to maximize theatrical potential across the board, the makers of Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan’s upcoming horror-comedy, ‘Bhooth Bangla’, have officially decided to postpone their film’s release by a week.

The decision stems from the phenomenal, unstoppable theatrical run of Aditya Dhar’s ‘Dhurandhar 2’, allowing the spy thriller a clear, uninterrupted window to continue its historic domination at the cinemas. Originally slated to hit cinema halls on April 10, ‘Bhooth Bangla’ will now on April 16, 2026.
Film producer Ektaa Kapoor took to Instagram to formally announce the shift, sharing a detailed official note with fans and the industry.
Ektaa Kapoor emphasised that the production team remains entirely committed to delivering a stellar cinematic experience, expressing confidence that the revised date will benefit audiences and allow the horror-comedy to enjoy a powerful run of its own.
The official note further elaborated on the collaborative spirit driving this delay, acknowledging the extraordinary box office performance of its would-be competitor ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’. By shifting ‘Bhooth Bangla’ ahead, the makers are ensuring that both massive projects receive the dedicated theatrical space, marketing focus, and audience attention they truly deserve without compromising the theatre-going audience's comfort.

The numbers for ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ certainly justify the industry reshuffle. The film opened to a staggering Rs 145 crore on its first day, including paid previews. Showing remarkable consistency into its second week, the thriller has amassed over Rs 920 crore net in India and crossed a jaw-dropping Rs 1,400 crore globally in just 14 days.
Starring Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, and Rakesh Bedi, the film has already eclipsed the lifetime collections of behemoths like ‘Jawan’, ‘Pathaan’, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’, ‘RRR’, ‘Pushpa: The Rise’, and ‘KGF: Chapter 2’. It is now setting its sights on the ultimate all-time records held by ‘Baahubali: The Conclusion’ and ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’.
Meanwhile, anticipation for ‘Bhooth Bangla’ remains sky-high. The project marks a highly awaited reunion between Akshay Kumar and blockbuster director Priyadarshan after a 17-year hiatus. The iconic duo has previously delivered cult-classic comedy entertainers like ‘Hera Pheri’, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’, ‘De Dana Dan’, ‘Bhagam Bhag’, and ‘Garam Masala’.
Produced by Akshay Kumar, Shobha Kapoor, and Ektaa R Kapoor, the horror-comedy boasts a stellar ensemble cast featuring Wamiqa Gabbi, Paresh Rawal, Tabu, Rajpal Yadav, Jisshu Sengupta, and Mithila Palkar.
Fans eager to witness this legendary comic reunion won't have to wait too much longer. ‘Bhooth Bangla’ is officially set to release in theatres on April 17, 2026, with exclusive paid previews kicking off on April 16 from 9 PM onwards.
