Watch: Sunil Grover Takes “Ghajini Revenge”, Gets Aamir Khan Kicked Out Of His Own Office In Fun Face-Off
In a hilarious face-off, Sunil Grover mimicked Aamir Khan, convincing Vir Das and Aamir's bodyguards that he’s the real superstar.
In a brilliant display of meta-humour and marketing genius, Aamir Khan Productions has released a promotional video for their upcoming film ‘Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos’. The sketch brings together the Mr Perfectionist of Bollywood, Aamir Khan, alongside comedy powerhouse Sunil Grover and actor-comedian-director Vir Das. The result is a chaotic, laugh-out-loud encounter that has left fans in splits.
Check out the hilarious video here:
The video opens with a shocking sight: the real Aamir Khan being aggressively manhandled and escorted out of his own office by security guards, while he desperately shouts, “I am Aamir! It's me!” The scene then cuts to a flashback, titled “3 minutes 09 seconds ago,” to reveal the hilarious series of events that led to this disaster.
Vir Das, who is making his directorial debut with ‘Happy Patel’, enters the office to find someone sitting in Aamir’s chair, back to the camera. When the figure turns around, it’s revealed to be Sunil Grover, perfectly styled in Aamir's signature look – complete with the spectacles and intense mannerisms. When Vir questions why he looks “different,” Sunil Grover – fully committed to his spot-on mimicry – casually remarks, “I've been working out!”
The sketch takes a turn into pure absurdity as Sunil’s "fake Aamir" showers Vir Das with praise. Comparing Vir to the likes of Raj Kapoor and Christopher Nolan, Sunil Grover’s character declares ‘Happy Patel’ a guaranteed superhit. In a move that wins over Vir’s loyalty instantly, the fake producer hands over a "bonus cheque" and then, to Vir's shock, a second cheque for the film's sequel – all before the first movie has even hit theatres.
The comedy peaks when the real Aamir Khan walks in, looking understandably confused and furious. However, in a brilliant twist of meta-humour, Vir Das refuses to recognise the real superstar. Pointing at the actual Aamir, Vir dismissively calls him "Sunil Grover," the mimic.
When the real Aamir calls for security to remove the impostor, Sunil Grover remains one step ahead. In a final masterstroke, he slips bonus cheques to the security guards as well. Greed triumphs over logic as the guards ignore the real Aamir’s orders and instead drag the superstar out of the building. The promo ends with Sunil Grover smugly enjoying his new life as Aamir, while Vir Das thanks him.
The clip quickly went viral, with fans having a hearty laugh watching the video. One comment read, “The Ghajini revenge is sweet.” For the unversed, in ‘Ghajini’, Asin hires an actor, played by Sunil, to pose as her boyfriend Sanjay Singhania. However, after Aamir disapproves of his acting and laughs at him, Asin chooses Aamir as Sanjay Singhania instead.
This viral sketch serves as a countdown for the theatrical release of ‘Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos’, scheduled for January 16, 2026. The film is a spy-comedy directed by Vir Das and Kavi Shastri, marking a significant milestone in Vir's career.
Beyond the comedic brilliance of this promo, the film has generated massive buzz for featuring the long-awaited return of Imran Khan to the big screen. The ensemble cast also includes Mona Singh, Sharib Hashmi, Mithila Palkar and Srushti Tawade.
With Aamir Khan’s penchant for innovative marketing and Sunil Grover’s unparalleled mimicry skills, ‘Happy Patel’ is already trending as one of the most anticipated releases of the year.
