In a rare move, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has finally addressed the long-standing and public conflict with his brother, actor Faissal Khan. Responding to serious allegations ranging from illegal confinement to career sabotage, Aamir expressed a sense of resignation, stating that while one can fight the world, it is impossible to "fight your own family." During a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, Aamir Khan opened up about the fractured relationship with his brother.

When confronted with Faissal’s claims that Aamir misused his influence to keep him under house arrest and hinder his career, the actor replied, “Kya karein? (What to do?) That is my destiny. You can fight the world, but how can you fight your own family?”

He emphasized that he is not comfortable with the idea of public family feuds, choosing to view the situation as a personal trial rather than a battle to be won.

The brothers famously shared the screen in the film ‘Mela’, which premiered on January 7, 2000. Reflecting on the film's legacy, Aamir admitted the project’s failure was a significant blow to both of them. Aamir noted that the film’s inability to reach its potential was “hard on Faissal” and equally difficult for him.

He reiterated that every film he makes is deeply personal, and the disappointment of ‘Mela’ was felt by the entire team.

The tension between the siblings reached a boiling point last year when Faissal declared he had severed all ties with the Khan family. His accusations against Aamir were extensive. Faissal claimed Aamir kept him locked in a Mumbai home for over a year.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Faissal accused Aamir of "whitewashing" his image, alleging that Aamir’s "Mr Perfectionist" persona is a facade. Faissal further alleged that Aamir had an affair with UK journalist Jessica Hines while married to his first wife, Reena Dutta, and even fathered a child with her.

In response to these claims, Aamir Khan’s family – including his mother, Zeenat Tahir Husain, and sister, Nikhat Hegde – released a collective statement. They described Faissal’s portrayals as “hurtful and misleading”.

The family maintained that every decision regarding Faissal was collective as it was made by the entire family together. It was also based on professional medical advice and aimed at supporting Faissal’s emotional and psychological well-being.

The Khans concluded by stating they have avoided discussing the details publicly to protect the family's privacy during a “painful and difficult period”.
