Aamir Khan recently voiced concerns over Mumbai's worsening air quality.

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, along with his former wife Kiran Rao and his children Junaid Khan, Ira Khan, and Azad Rao Khan, made a notable appearance at the Tata Mumbai Marathon this Sunday. While the family joined thousands to celebrate the city’s resilient spirit, the event also served as a platform for them to voice concerns regarding Mumbai's deteriorating air quality. Aamir, known for his selective public appearances, shared that his decision to participate was driven by the infectious energy he witnessed in previous years.

Aamir noted that the enthusiasm displayed in the runs for senior citizens and people with disabilities was particularly moving. He also expressed a newfound commitment to making the marathon an annual fixture in his calendar.

“Jo excitement humne dekha people with disabilities ke run mein aur senior citizens ke run mein, toh ab mujhe bhi laga ke har saal aana chahiye. Bahot kamal ka spirit hai Mumbai ka,” he said, praising the inspiring energy of the city’s runners.

The celebration was balanced with a sobering conversation about the environment. As the city grapples with rising pollution levels, the Khan family didn't shy away from the topic. When asked about the hazy conditions, Aamir acknowledged the struggle with a candid, “Haan abhi kya kare? I know!” noting that the current air quality is a far cry from what Mumbaikars are accustomed to.

Kiran Rao echoed these sentiments, calling for urgent civic action. She urged citizens to move beyond mere observation and take an active role in understanding and solving the AQI crisis. “We all need to raise our voices, get involved, and understand the causes,” she stated, with Aamir adding a final plea for everyone to “contribute in a positive way.”

The marathon appearance comes at a busy time for Aamir Khan Productions. The superstar’s latest venture, ‘Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos’, starring Vir Das, recently hit theatres to a mixed reception. Despite Aamir Khan's backing as a producer and his own appearance in the film, the project has seen a lukewarm response at the box office.

However, the actor is already looking toward the future with several high-profile projects. The teaser for ‘Ek Din’, produced by Aamir, was recently unveiled. The film marks another significant step for his son, Junaid Khan, who stars alongside Sai Pallavi.

Industry buzz continues to grow regarding a potential collaboration with director Rajkumar Hirani. Aamir is reportedly set to portray Dadasaheb Phalke in a biopic, though an official confirmation is still awaited.

Perhaps his most ambitious project yet, Aamir confirmed that work is officially underway for a big-screen adaptation of the ‘Mahabharat’, a long-held passion project for the actor.
