Aamir Khan’s priceless reaction to Sunil Grover’s spot-on mimicry is going viral online.
Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has once again found himself at the centre of a viral moment – this time thanks to comedian Sunil Grover’s uncanny impression of him. The duo recently collaborated on a promotional video for Aamir Khan Productions’ upcoming film ‘Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos’. And while the clip itself amused audiences, a behind-the-scenes video from the shoot has now taken the internet by storm for Aamir’s priceless reaction to Sunil’s performance.
Shared by a member of Aamir’s team, the BTS footage shows Sunil slipping into Aamir mode while performing a scene alongside Vir Das, as Aamir watches closely from behind the camera. At one point, Aamir is even seen stepping in to guide Sunil on how to approach a specific moment in the scene.
When Sunil dramatically launches into a mock-crying act mid-performance, Aamir completely loses it – breaking into loud laughter, clapping his hands and joining the rest of the crew in applauding Sunil’s spot-on portrayal. The text over the video perfectly summed up the mood on set, reading, “We were all in awe of the genius of Sunil Grover.”

The same team member also shared a group photograph from the shoot, featuring Aamir and Sunil twinning in similar outfits and posing with the full crew. The caption accompanying the picture read, “Never laughed so much on any other set! Perks of working with an absolute A-team,” underlining just how joyful and fun the atmosphere on set was during the shoot.
Sunil Grover’s imitation of Aamir first caught major attention on ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’. During an episode that featured Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday as guests, Sunil slipped into an Aamir-inspired avatar, joking about marriage and even referencing Jaya Bachchan’s recent comment about paparazzi – all while maintaining the actor’s distinctive mannerisms and tone. The act was widely praised online, with viewers calling it “pitch-perfect” and “uncannily accurate.”
Even Aamir Khan himself couldn’t get over how authentic the performance felt. Speaking to Subhash K Jha in an interview for Bollywood Hungama, the superstar said he wouldn’t even describe it as mimicry.
“It was so authentic, I felt like I was watching myself. I saw a small clip, and now I’m going to watch the whole episode. What I saw was priceless. I was laughing so much I couldn’t breathe! There was no malice in it at all. I must have laughed the loudest,” Aamir shared.
Directed by Vir Das and Kavi Shashtri, and co-written by Amogh Ranadive, ‘Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos’ is backed by Aamir Khan Productions. The film stars Vir Das in the lead role, supported by a strong ensemble including Mona Singh, Sharib Hashmi and rapper-turned-actor Srushti Tawade.
One of the most talked-about aspects of the project is the return of Imran Khan to the big screen, along with a special cameo by Aamir himself. The film is scheduled for release on January 16.
