It has been just five days since the Netflix show 'Trial By Fire' dropped on the streaming platform, and the praise has been unanimous. The series which is based on the Uphaar cinema tragedy has been receiving love from all corners and the performances by Rajshri Deshpande and Abhay Deol have won everyone over. Bigwig Bollywood director and producer Karan Johar is the latest to lavish praise on the show, and he said that the series "broke his heart" and gave him a "gold standard narrative of resilience."
Writing on his Instagram Story, Karan Johar said: "Broke my heart and gave me a gold standard narrative of resilience… this series is a masterclass in narrative, execution and portrayals! Rajashree Deshpande and Abhay Deol are the rock-solid emotional pillars of this stunningly brilliant mini series."
"They are extraordinary! Take a bow Kevin Lupercio and Prashant Nair and Team @netflix_in.. I sleep with a heavy heart and inspired feeling all at once," he added.
In the month of June in 1997, a fire wreaked havoc inside Uphaar Cinema in Green Park area of Delhi, and it resulted in the loss of 59 lives and almost 100 filmgoers were injured due to a fire at the Uphaar Cinema in South Delhi.
'Trial By Fire' has been produced by Endemol Shine India and House of Talkies.
Prashant Nair has directed the series and the show captures the heartbreaking yet resilient journey of the parents - Neelam and Shekhar Krishnamoorthy, who lost their two children to the fire.
