Singer-composer Palash Muchhal has reportedly landed in legal trouble after a complaint was filed against him alleging caste-based abuse during an altercation on a highway in Maharashtra. The development has quickly sparked attention online, especially because the complainant is said to be a childhood friend of Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana. According to reports, the complaint was filed by Vigyan Prakash Mane, who alleged that the incident took place at a toll plaza on the Sangli-Ashta road.

The matter has now escalated into a legal issue, with reports stating that a case has been registered against Palash Muchhal under provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
As per the complaint, the argument reportedly began after a dispute related to vehicles and road movement near the toll area. During the confrontation, Vigyan Prakash Mane alleged that Palash used casteist remarks against him. The complainant further claimed that the exchange became heated and humiliating in public, prompting him to approach the authorities and file an official complaint.

Reports suggest that the police have taken cognisance of the allegations and initiated legal proceedings. However, as of now, there has reportedly been no official public statement from Palash Muchhal regarding the accusations. The singer-composer has not yet addressed the controversy on social media either.
The case has naturally triggered widespread conversation online, with social media users reacting strongly to the allegations. While some users demanded strict legal action if the accusations are proven true, others urged caution and stressed the importance of allowing the investigation to proceed before drawing conclusions.
Palash Muchhal, who is the brother of singer Palak Muchhal, is known in the entertainment industry for composing music and directing projects across Hindi cinema and independent music spaces. Over the years, he has maintained a relatively low-profile public image compared to many mainstream Bollywood composers, which is one reason why the controversy has come as a surprise to many followers online.
Meanwhile, the mention of Smriti Mandhana’s name in connection with the complainant also drew additional attention to the case. However, reports clarified that the Indian cricketer is not directly connected to the incident and was only referenced because of her long-standing friendship with Vigyan Prakash Mane.
Legal cases involving celebrities often attract intense public scrutiny, especially when allegations involve sensitive issues such as caste discrimination. In India, offences registered under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act are treated seriously and can carry significant legal consequences if proven in court.
At present, the investigation is reportedly underway, and further details are expected to emerge once the authorities complete preliminary inquiries into the matter.
