Smriti Mandhana’s brother has finally broken his silence on her postponed wedding.

The saga surrounding the postponement of Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal’s wedding continues to twist and turn. Originally scheduled for November 23, the wedding was called off at the last minute due to the sudden illness of Smriti Mandhana’s father. While recent reports suggested that the couple had locked in a new date – December 7 – Smriti’s family has now stepped in to clear the air. Addressing the fresh wave of speculation, Smriti’s brother, Shravan Mandhana, categorically denied that a new date has been set.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, he dismissed the December 7 claims, stating, “I have no idea about these rumours. As of now, it (the wedding) is still postponed.”

The wedding, which was set to take place in Sangli, was halted on the morning of the ceremony after Smriti’s father, Shrinivas Mandhana, suffered a serious medical emergency and was rushed to the hospital.

The postponement has been marred by intense online scrutiny. Following the delay, unverified reports began circulating on social media platforms claiming that the wedding was halted due to Palash’s alleged infidelity, rather than just the father’s health. These rumours gained significant traction after fans noticed that Smriti had deleted all photos and videos related to her engagement and pre-wedding festivities from her Instagram handle.

Adding to the confusion was the sudden departure of Palash’s family from the wedding venue in Sangli back to Mumbai.

Amidst the cheating allegations, two wedding choreographers – Nandika Dwivedi and Gulnaaz Khan – were dragged into the controversy by internet users. Both quickly took to Instagram to release statements, asserting they had nothing to do with the postponement or the rumours.

Palash’s mother also defended her son, clarifying the reason for their return to Mumbai. She stated that Palash was deeply affected by Smriti’s father’s condition, crying to the point of exhaustion. She explained that he had to be hospitalised due to severe stress, which prompted the family to shift him to a Mumbai hospital for better care.

For now, the couple maintains a stoic silence, and as confirmed by the bride's brother, no new wedding date has been finalised.
