“Don't Judge”: Palash Muchhal’s Cousin Slams Rumours Amid Wedding Postponement With Smriti Mandhana
After postponement of Smriti Mandhana and Palash Muchhal’s wedding, Palash’s cousin has urged people not to judge him based on some rumours.
It was set to be the internet’s next fairytale wedding. Following a viral proposal and a heart-warming video of cricketer Smriti Mandhana dancing with her Team India teammates, fans were eagerly waiting to see the wedding pictures and videos. However, the celebrations for Smriti and music composer Palash Muchhal came to a jarring halt when Smriti’s father fell seriously ill, forcing an indefinite postponement of the nuptials. The sudden postponement sparked intense speculation online.
The situation intensified when Smriti Mandhana and her teammates began deleting pictures and videos of the pre-wedding festivities from social media. This digital clean-up fuelled a rumour mill that quickly turned toxic, with unverified reports leading to a severe backlash against the groom, Palash Muchhal.
Adding to the drama, Palash himself faced a medical emergency. After returning from the wedding venue in Sangli on Sunday, he was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai citing exhaustion and stress. His sudden departure from the venue had initially raised eyebrows, which the subsequent rumours only amplified.
Amidst the swirling rumours, Palash’s family has come forward to defend him and clarify the situation. His cousin, Neeti Tak, took to Instagram Stories to shut down the negativity and update fans on his health.
“Palash is going through a critical condition today. You all should not judge him without knowing the truth,” Neeti wrote. She further alluded to the viral rumours, adding, “Technology has come far ahead of humans, and people should not form opinions based on rumours. Pray for him.”
Palash’s sister, singer Palak Muchhal, had earlier also issued a statement requesting space for the families. “Due to Smriti’s father’s health, Smriti and Palash’s wedding has been put on hold. We request you all to respect the privacy of both families during this sensitive time,” she stated.
Palash’s mother, Amrita Muchhal, provided further context on her son's condition, revealing that the postponement was actually Palash's insistence due to his deep bond with Smriti Mandhana’s father.
Speaking to Hindustan Times, she revealed, “After the incident, he cried so much that he had to be hospitalised for four hours. He was given an IV drip. He was extremely stressed.” She emphasized that Palash was adamant the pheras should not take place until his future father-in-law had fully recovered.
Smriti and Palash had completed their haldi ceremony and were scheduled to tie the knot on November 23 before the medical emergency struck. In a positive development, Smriti’s father has now been discharged from the hospital, though the wedding remains on hold.
