Smriti Mandhana announced her engagement to Palash Muchhal with a playful video.

India’s World Cup-winning star Smriti Mandhana surprised fans on Thursday by announcing her engagement to music composer Palash Muchhal through a choreographed Instagram reveal that featured several of her India teammates. The playful video did not disclose any details about the wedding. But Prime Minister Narendra Modi ended the suspense by revealing the date himself while extending wishes to the couple. The now-viral clip includes Jemimah Rodrigues, Shreyanka Patil, Radha Yadav and Arundhati Reddy, who join Smriti Mandhana in a coordinated dance sequence set to ‘Samjho Ho Hi Gaya’ from the 2006 film ‘Lage Raho Munna Bhai’.

The playful video, which sees the group dancing down a gym track before Smriti Mandhana flashes her engagement ring in the final frame, has instantly become the cutest thing on the internet, perfectly blending her on-field camaraderie with this joyous personal milestone.

Palash Muchhal also took to Instagram to share a beautiful proposal video featuring him and his lady love.

Hints of an impending wedding had already surfaced last month when Palash Muchhal, speaking at an event at the State Press Club in Indore, suggested that Smriti Mandhana would soon be the “daughter-in-law of Indore”. Although he stopped short of making an official announcement, his comment fuelled anticipation among fans and local media.

In a detailed congratulatory message addressed to the couple, Prime Minister Modi praised their shared values and wished them a lifetime filled with harmony, trust and love. Drawing a warm metaphor from their respective fields, he said Smriti Mandhana’s “cover drive” and Muchhal’s “musical symphony” would blend beautifully in partnership. He also revealed the wedding date, confirming that the two will get married on November 23, 2025.

The celebratory moment arrives on the heels of Smriti Mandhana’s recent on-field heroics. Just weeks ago, the Indian women’s team made history by clinching their maiden Women’s ODI World Cup title in Navi Mumbai after a thrilling victory over South Africa. Smriti Mandhana finished the tournament as its leading run-scorer with 434 runs in nine innings – the highest tally by any Indian batter in a single edition of the competition.
