Emotional Shah Rukh Khan Says He “Was Horrified” After Seeing Rishabh Pant’s Car Accident
Shah Rukh Khan got a little emotional, speaking about Rishabh Pant’s car accident. He also opened up on meeting the cricketer during an IPL 2024 match, video of which went crazy viral.
Shah Rukh Khan is the king of hearts and his humble nature has always been spoken about widely by his peers and the people who have met him. Through his association with Indian Premier League team Kolkata Knight Riders, the superstar has gotten quite close to a number of cricketers. He is often seen cheering his team on in the stadium, especially in IPL 2024. Numerous videos have gone viral of him meeting much younger cricketers with humility and grace. So, it was no surprise when he met Indian star Rishabh Pant, who recently recovered from a near-fatal car accident, with the same humility and love.
While speaking in an interview with Star Sports, Shah Rukh Khan spoke about meeting Rishabh Pant during the Delhi Capitals vs Kolkata Knight Riders match at the at the Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, earlier this month.
SRK also recalled watching the CCTV footage of Rishabh Pant’s car accident, and said that he was horrified by it.
Watch the video here:
“I was horrified. I saw that video (of his car). It was horrifying! Because we didn't know then, what was the result of the accident. So, you get the worst feelings. To me, these age boys are like my own sons. In my team as well, there are many (youngsters). I hoped he wasn't hurt too badly,” Shah Rukh Khan in an interview with Star Sports.
After the DC vs KKR match ended, Shah Rukh Khan, along with his manager Pooja Dadlani, entered the main playing area to interact with both set of players. But he sped to Rishabh Pant as soon as he saw him sitting with a few other players.
Seeing SRK, Rishabh Pant immediately stood up to greet the superstar, despite the latter urging him to remain seated. Pant, though, didn’t heed SRK’s gestures and still stood up. The duo then hugged each other.
"And a sportsman getting hurt, it's a double jeopardy. Rishabh is a winner and I wish him all the best. I hope his knee heals quickly. That’s why when I met him, I was telling him don't get up, it must be hurting. And then, when I was hugging him and asking are you well? I had not seen him post this accident. I am really happy that he's back, playing well and I hope he keeps on playing well," Shah Rukh added.
On the work front, Shah Rukh Khan was last seen in ‘Dunki’, directed by Rajkumar Hirani. The movie didn’t do as well at the box office as SRK’s previous two releases – ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Jawaan’ – but still managed to make more than Rs 400 crore worldwide.
