Their appearance together sparked a wave of reactions online, particularly because it came shortly after news of Vijay’s marital dispute surfaced. Some users speculated about the nature of their relationship.
One comment read, “Until now I thought they were just rumours… but now it might be official.”
Another user wrote that the appearance felt like a “hard launch,” while adding that Vijay should resolve matters with his wife and children first. Others simply remarked that the duo did not appear to be hiding their closeness anymore.
The public outing comes days after Sangeetha reportedly filed a petition for divorce against Vijay in the Chengalpattu family court in Chennai. According to news agency ANI, she accused the actor of infidelity, alleging that he had been involved in an “adulterous relationship” with an actress.
In the petition, Sangeetha stated that she discovered the alleged relationship in April 2021, which caused her significant emotional pain and mental distress. She described the situation as a betrayal of marital trust and claimed that Vijay continued to publicly associate with the actress despite the impact it had on their family.
The filing further alleged that since 2021 Vijay had emotionally withdrawn from the marriage, treating her with verbal disdain and forcing her into what was described as “constructive desertion,” where she lived separately within the matrimonial home. The petition also claimed that Vijay continued to travel abroad and attend events with the actress.
Sangeetha also alleged that the actress frequently posted pictures of outings with Vijay on social media and that the actor neither denied nor objected to the posts, which she interpreted as tacit approval. According to the petition, these developments caused her emotional suffering and embarrassment for their children.
Vijay and Sangeetha first met in 1996. Sangeetha, who is of Sri Lankan origin, was raised in Britain. The couple registered their marriage in the United Kingdom in 1998 before holding a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony in Chennai on August 25, 1999. They have two children together, son Jason and daughter Dhivya.
Over the years, Vijay and Trisha have been one of Tamil cinema’s most popular on-screen pairs. They have worked together in several films, including ‘Ghilli’ and ‘Leo’. Trisha also made a cameo appearance in Vijay’s film ‘The GOAT’.
Recently, Trisha addressed another controversy surrounding her name and personal life. The issue arose after Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagendran made comments about Vijay and Trisha. In response, Trisha shared a statement issued by her lawyer on X, stating that she did not want her name used in such a “distasteful” manner and clarifying that she is not affiliated with any political party.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Trisha has had a busy year with releases including ‘Vidaamuyarchi’, ‘Good Bad Ugly’, and ‘Thug Life’. She is also set to appear in upcoming projects such as ‘Vishwambhara’ and ‘Karuppu’.
Vijay, meanwhile, will next be seen in ‘Jana Nayagan’, which is expected to be his final film before he fully transitions into politics. The actor has already announced the launch of his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), and plans to contest the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
