Tamil superstar and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay commands a cult-like following, with fans often treating him like a demi-God. The ‘Leo’ actor was recently mobbed by an excited crowd at Madurai airport while returning from a film shoot in Kodaikanal. But what began as routine fanfare quickly turned tense when a fan got too close for comfort – prompting one of Vijay’s bodyguards to pull out a gun. A video capturing the intense moment, including Vijay stepping out of his vehicle, has since gone viral, sparking heated reactions across social media.

His fans started cheering as soon as he stepped out and they started running just to catch a glimpse of him. However, one fan then managed to break through security as he attempted to get close to the actor with a shawl in hand.

Vijay’s security team held him back, with one bodyguard’s gun briefly pointing at him in the commotion. The actor looked oblivious to the scuffle behind him as he went away.

Check out the video here:

“I didn’t know the gun was there; the bouncers did it for security reasons. I don't think they did anything wrong,” the fan told News18 later.

However, the video has not impressed the internet and netizens are calling out this behaviour of Vijay's security team.

One user wrote, “This is scary. Actor vijays bouncers using Pistol against public in public place.”

Another user commented, “When the public or press approaches other actors like Rajinikanth sir, Ajith sir, Sivakarthikeyan Na, Suriya Na, they are very much kinder than this man over here! Poor tata, he thought he might get to see Vijay, but he and his team had other plans.”

A fan defended Vijay by saying, “Why did the guard pull out his gun? Simple. Guns aren’t allowed inside the terminal. He was handing it over to another officer before entering. Standard protocol.”

“Thalapathy Vijay’s security officer was responsibly handing over a firearm to a colleague at the airport when a cadre’s reckless interference caused a brief mishap. No one was targeted,” wrote one user.

For the unversed, Vijay is planning to contest the 2026 elections. Meanwhile, on the film front, he will next be seen in ‘Jana Nayagan’, alongside Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, and Mamitha Baiju. This will be his final film.
