Nayanthara and Trisha Krishnan surprised fans with a cruise getaway reunion.

The internet was caught off guard on Monday when South cinema’s leading ladies, Nayanthara and Trisha Krishnan, shared glimpses of their recent getaway. The duo dropped a series of breathtaking photos from a cruise, capturing them laughing and soaking in a picturesque sunset against the backdrop of the open sea. Radiating pure joy, both actresses opted for a coordinated look, twinning in all-black outfits and chic shades. The candid shots highlighted a rare bond between the two superstars, creating a moment that many fans admitted they never expected to see in real life.

Nayanthara took to Instagram to share the stunning pictures, which she captioned with two red heart emojis.

The comments section exploded almost instantly, with many fans initially questioning if the photos were even real. One fan noted, “Thought it was AI and confirmed after checking Nayan’s account,” while another echoed, “One second I thought it was AI-generated.”

The most popular reactions played on the title of the 2015 film ‘Trisha Illana Nayanthara’. Fans joked that the phrase (which translates to “If not Trisha, then Nayanthara”) had finally come true, but with a twist: “Trisha vum Nayanthara vum” (Both Trisha and Nayanthara).

Others simply couldn't hide their excitement, calling the updates “wholesome”.

The reunion struck a nostalgic chord due to the cult status of the 2015 romantic comedy ‘Trisha Illana Nayanthara’, directed by Adhik Ravichandran. Starring GV Prakash Kumar, Anandhi, and Manisha Yadav, the film explored modern relationship complexities with a humorous edge. Seeing the two namesakes together in person felt like a full-circle moment for the audience.

Both actresses are currently navigating packed professional calendars with massive projects on the horizon. Nayanthara was last seen in the intense sports thriller ‘Test’ (2025) on Netflix, alongside R. Madhavan and Siddharth.

Fans can look forward to seeing her in ‘Dear Students’, ‘Mookuthi Amman 2’, and the highly anticipated ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale For Grown-Ups’ starring Yash.

Trisha Krishnan, on the other hand, recently starred in Mani Ratnam’s ‘Thug Life’ (2025) with Kamal Haasan and Silambarasan TR. This follows her successful run in ‘Vidaamuyarchi’, ‘The Good Bad Ugly’, and her digital debut in the Telugu series ‘Brinda’.

Trisha is next set to appear in ‘Peddi’, starring Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor.
