‘Raaka’ First Look: Allu Arjun’s Bald Beast-Mode Transformation Takes Internet By Storm
Allu Arjun’s beast-mode first look from ‘Raaka’ has sparked frenzy online as the Atlee directorial promises a massive sci-fi spectacle.
The Indian film industry has witnessed a seismic shift today as the highly anticipated collaboration between ‘Icon Star’ Allu Arjun and renowned director Atlee has finally been unveiled. To mark the occasion of Allu Arjun’s 44th birthday on April 8, Sun Pictures officially announced the film’s title as ‘Raaka’, accompanied by a first-look poster that has left fans excited and stunned. Breaking away from his trademark swag and the rugged charm seen in the ‘Pushpa’ franchise, Allu Arjun appears in a never-seen-before beast-mode avatar.

The poster reveals the actor with a completely bald head, heavy kohl-rimmed eyes, and a thick, greying beard and moustache. Perhaps most striking are the intricate markings on his forehead, which carry a Viking-inspired aesthetic, and a massive, furry, animalistic claw that he uses to partially shield his face. This transformation is part of a high-concept sci-fi action drama that promises to push the boundaries of Indian cinema.

Produced under the Sun Pictures banner, ‘Raaka’ is being positioned as a global spectacle. The project marks the first collaboration between Allu Arjun and Atlee, and it also features Deepika Padukone in a pivotal lead role. Reports indicate that the production is leaving no stone unturned regarding technical excellence. The VFX team includes supervisors who have previously worked on Hollywood blockbusters such as ‘Iron Man 2’ and ‘Transformers’. These experts have reportedly described the script as "unlike anything" they have ever read, hinting at a narrative scale that justifies its massive Rs 800 crore budget.
The financial scale of ‘Raaka’ is equally staggering. Industry insiders suggest that Allu Arjun is set to receive a salary of approximately Rs 175 crore, along with a 15 per cent stake in the film's backend profits. Director Atlee, coming off the massive success of ‘Jawan’, is reportedly charging Rs 100 crore for the project. Out of the Rs 800 crore budget, Rs 200 crore is reportedly earmarked for production, with a significant Rs 250 crore dedicated solely to visual effects.
As soon as the title and poster dropped, social media went into overdrive. The visual of a bald, clawed Allu Arjun drew immediate comparisons to several iconic cinematic looks. On platforms like X and Reddit, fans pointed out similarities to Karthi’s look in ‘Kaashmora’ and Vikram’s prosthetic transformation in the film I. Some even drew parallels to the villainous character also named “Raakha” from Jr NTR’s 2011 film ‘Shakthi’. Others noted that Atlee seems to be continuing a bald look trend following Shah Rukh Khan’s transformation in ‘Jawan’, while some fans compared the primal aesthetic to Andy Serkis’ Caesar from the ‘Planet of the Apes’ franchise.
The industry reaction has been equally fervent. Celebrities like Rakul Preet Singh, Pragya Jaiswal, and Tanishaa Mukerji were among the first to comment on the "intriguing" and "jaw-dropping" nature of the reveal. The poster garnered over 1.4 million likes within just three hours of its release, proving the massive pull of the film.
While official plot details remain under wraps, rumours are swirling that Allu Arjun may be portraying four different characters in the film – ranging from a grandfather and a father to two sons. There is also heavy speculation that the story involves parallel universes, a theme hinted at by the makers' tagline: “Prepare yourself for a vision beyond limits”.
With the poster released in nine different languages, ‘Raaka’ is clearly aiming for a dominant pan-India and international presence. While the wait will be long, as the film is only expected to hit theatres in 2027, the first look has successfully ensured that ‘Raaka’ will remain the most talked-about project in the coming months.
