The second season of 'House of the Dragon' will be premiering on June 16.

The wait is finally over. The update we all were waiting for, is finally here. The second season of 'House of the Dragon' will premiere on June 16 (June 17 in India). In the latest entertainment news, the show's makers confirmed this development on Thursday. Along with the release date, the makers have also unveiled the trailer for the upcoming second season of the uber-popular series.

As a part of their unique promotion strategy, the makers have dropped two trailers for Season 2. So whose side are you on? Rhaenyra’s black faction or Alicent’s green team?

For the unversed, 'House of the Dragon' follows the height of the Targaryen dynasty 200 years before the events of 'Game of Thrones' in the fictional continent of Westeros.

As per Variety, the series' second season will officially mark the start of the Dance of the Dragons, the Targaryen Civil War. 

The fantasy drama series is based on author George RR Martin's book 'Fire & Blood'. For the unversed, the book details the history of House Targaryen.

The first season of 'House of the Dragon' followed Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) in her fight to be named the chosen heir of King Viserys I (Patty Considine).

The returning cast for the upcoming season includes Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Matt Smith, Ewan Mitchell, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, Rhys Ifans, Harry Collett, Phoebe Campbell, Bethany Antonia, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall and Matthew Needham.

While, the newcomers are -- Tom Taylor as Lord Cregan Stark, Clinton Liberty as Addam of Hull, Jamie Kenna as Ser Alfred Broome, Kieran Bew as Hugh Hammer, Tom Bennett as Ulf and Vincent Regan as Ser Rickard Thorne. Other newcomers include Abubakar Salim as Alyn of Hull, Gayle Rankin as Alys Rivers, Freddie Fox as Ser Gwayne Hightower, and Simon Russell Beale as Ser Simon Strong, reported Variety.
