For the past few weeks, while Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ has been busy shattering box office records, a section of the internet has been playing detective. The subject of their investigation? Deepika Padukone’s social media feed. As the film surged past historic milestones, trolls and fans alike began questioning Deepika’s “silent treatment” toward her husband’s latest blockbuster. Now, Deepika has finally broken her silence, and she didn't hold back.

The controversy began when social media users noticed a lack of celebratory posts, reviews, or public acknowledgments from Deepika regarding the film. The chatter intensified when she skipped the film’s grand premiere to attend a sitar concert by Rishab Rikhiram Sharma with her in-laws instead.

This led to a flurry of speculation, with some suggesting a "calculated snub" against the director, Aditya Dhar, while others even dug up her 2020 visit to JNU, claiming her political standpoint was the reason for her silence on the spy thriller.

However, Deepika Padukone decided to shut down the narrative in her signature witty style. Responding directly to a viral Instagram reel by Culture Circle – which asked if she was making a statement or if the internet was simply "over-analyzing" – Deepika commented, “The latter my friend… P.S. I watched it way before any of you did. Now who is the joke on?”

This sassy clapback effectively reminded the virtual world that public support and private reality are two different things. While she may not have joined the social media bandwagon this time, she has been celebrating the film’s success privately. She was recently spotted on dinner dates at Mumbai’s famous Benne Dosa with Ranveer and his father, Jagjit Singh Bhavnani. Furthermore, during a recent intimate pre-birthday meet-and-greet, Deepika was seen beaming with joy and pride when fans cheered for the film’s massive success.

The silence was particularly noticed because Deepika had been quite vocal during the release of the first installment in December 2025, where she called the film "worth every minute" and expressed how "incredibly proud" she was of Ranveer.

While Deepika kept her praise private, other industry heavyweights have been loud and clear. Ranveer’s ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’ co-star Anushka Sharma and cricketer Virat Kohli recently hailed his performance as “flawless.” Alia Bhatt, Karan Johar and Vicky Kaushal had also praised Ranveer’s film.

‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ is currently a juggernaut at the box office. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the sequel has officially surpassed the lifetime domestic haul of SS Rajamouli’s ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’, crossing the Rs 1,033 crore net mark in India and minting over Rs 1,600 crore globally.

As the film continues its record-breaking run, Deepika is looking ahead to her own massive slate, including Shah Rukh Khan’s action thriller ‘King’, scheduled for December 2026, and ‘Raaka’ opposite Allu Arjun. For now, she has made it clear: she doesn't need a grid post to prove her support for her husband's 1000-crore milestone.
