Ram Charan is back, and he's roaring louder than ever! Following the disappointing theatrical run of ‘Game Changer’, the Telugu superstar has reaffirmed his sheer box office dominance with his latest sports action drama, ‘Peddi’. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana and co-starring Janhvi Kapoor, the highly anticipated film took the global box office by storm, raking in a staggering Rs 112.49 crore worldwide on its opening day. According to trade tracker Sacnilk, ‘Peddi’ generated a massive India gross of Rs 82.49 crore.

Its India net collections stand at a phenomenal Rs 69.50 crore, which combines Rs 51 crore from Thursday's wide release across 12,412 shows and Rs 18.50 crore from Wednesday's paid previews (which boasted a 72 per cent occupancy).

With these numbers, ‘Peddi’ has comfortably outshined the domestic opening figures of several massive Bollywood blockbusters, racing past ‘Pathaan’ (Rs 57 crore), ‘Gadar 2’ (Rs 40 crore), and ‘Dhurandhar’ (Rs 30 crore). The mammoth start officially makes the film the second-biggest Indian opener of 2026, trailing only behind Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar 2’ (Rs 79 crore net / Rs 102 crore gross).

Moreover, it marks Ram Charan's highest career solo opening, solidifying his massive pan-India appeal after SS Rajamouli's multi-starrer ‘RRR’. The hype was evident early on, with the film pulling in Rs 20 crore gross in advance bookings and selling over 82 lakh tickets across 3,000 screens.

On the global front, the film grossed an estimated Rs 30 crore from overseas markets. This massive worldwide gross means Peddi has made history as only the 11th Telugu film to achieve the coveted Rs 100-crore worldwide opening day milestone – an exclusive club kickstarted by ‘Baahubali 2’.

The 189-minute film’s success was largely driven by its home turf. The Telugu version registered a sensational 68 per cent occupancy across nearly 7,000 shows, with night shows surging past 76 per cent attendance.

The Hindi dub had a modest start, generating around Rs 2.84 to Rs 3 crore with a 15–16 per cent occupancy rate across 4,333 shows. While the Hindi figures aren't currently indicative of a breakout pan-India smash, trade analysts note that nationwide word-of-mouth usually boosts Hindi-dub numbers through the weekend. Supplementary markets contributed decently: Tamil fetched Rs 0.45 crore, Kannada added Rs 0.25 crore, and Malayalam chipped in Rs 0.10 crore.

Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, Sukumar Writings, Vriddhi Cinemas, and IVY Entertainment, ‘Peddi’ boasts a star-studded cast featuring Janhvi Kapoor, Divyenndu, Jagapathi Babu, Shiva Rajkumar, Vijay Sethupathi, and Boman Irani (marking his fifth Telugu outing).

As we head into Day 2, the momentum continues. Early live data shows ‘Peddi’ has already collected Rs 0.39 crore across 674 shows, bringing the running India net to Rs 69.89 crore. However, the stakes are remarkably high. With an estimated break-even target of Rs 500 crore worldwide gross, this weekend's hold will be the ultimate test for Ram Charan's ambitious sports drama.
