Ajay Devgn’s ‘Dhamaal 4’ Outperforms Akshay Kumar’s ‘Welcome To The Jungle’
Ajay Devgn’s 'Dhamaal 4' went past the Rs 80 crore mark in India. Here's how much the film made on its fifth day of release.
Despite receiving mixed reactions from critics, 'Dhamaal 4' is maintaining a steady run at the box office. Fronted by Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Riteish Deshmukh, and Jaaved Jaaferi, the fourth installment of the popular comedy franchise continues to draw audiences. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, 'Dhamaal 4' earned Rs 9.50 crore net in India on its fifth day across 11,077 shows. The latest figures took the film's domestic net collection to Rs 83.25 crore.
Interestingly, the comedy entertainer registered a modest upward trend on Tuesday, with its Day 5 earnings rising 8.6 per cent over Monday's Rs 8.75 crore. The growth suggests that the film has managed to retain audience interest despite the expected weekday slowdown.
The film began its theatrical journey with an opening-day collection of Rs 14 crore net before witnessing substantial growth over the weekend. It earned Rs 22.50 crore on Saturday and Rs 28.50 crore on Sunday, wrapping up its opening weekend with a healthy Rs 65 crore net collection.
Among recent Hindi releases, 'Dhamaal 4' has outperformed 'Welcome To The Jungle' in opening weekend numbers. The film had collected Rs 24.75 crore net on its third day from 10,867 shows, taking its three-day India total to Rs 63.75 crore.'Dhamaal 4' also delivered the franchise's strongest opening weekend, surpassing the benchmark set by 'Total Dhamaal' (2019).
Directed by Indra Kumar, 'Dhamaal 4' is backed by T-Series Films, Panorama Studios, Devgn Films, Maruti International and Anand Pandit Motion Pictures. Serving as the direct sequel to 'Total Dhamaal' (2019), the film also features Ravi Kishan, Sanjay Mishra, Upendra Limaye, Anjali Anand, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Esha Gupta and Vijay Patkar.
Centred around yet another chaotic treasure hunt, the latest chapter in the 'Dhamaal' franchise blends slapstick humour with adventure. While critical and audience responses have been divided, the franchise shows no signs of slowing down. A post-credit scene in 'Dhamaal 4' also teases the next installment, with 'Dhamaal 5' already in development.
However, the road ahead for 'Dhamaal 4' is expected to be difficult as Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey' releases in cinemas on Friday, July 17. According to Sacnilk, 'The Odyssey', starring Matt Damon, Robert Pattinson, and Tom Holland, is expected to open to Rs 20 crore in India.
