'Chandu Champion' And 'Munjya' Witness Huge Spike In Collection; 'Ishq Vishk Rebound' Continues To Struggle

Kartik Aaryan's 'Chandu Champion' and Sharvari's 'Munjya' witnessed a huge spike on Saturday.

After maintaining a steady pace on the weekdays, both 'Chandu Champion' and 'Munjya' witnessed a huge spike in their box office collection on Saturday. The best-performing movie of the day was Sharvari Wagh, Abhay Verma, and Mona Singh's 'Munjya'. The horror comedy is now slowly inching towards the Rs 100 crore mark at the box office, and if the film manages to achieve this, it would be a remarkable feat for a small-budget film.

As per early estimates posted by industry tracker Sacnilk, 'Munjya' minted Rs 5.50 crore on Saturday, the 16th day of its release. On Saturday, the new Hindi film had an overall 27.09 per cent occupancy. The total nett domestic collection of 'Munjya' now stands at Rs 76.45 crore. 

Coming to Kartik Aaryan's 'Chandu Champion', which has been directed by Kabir Khan, minted Rs 4.85 crore on Saturday, the 9th day of its release.

On Saturday, 'Chandu Champion' had an overall 29.95 per cent occupancy. The total nett domestic of 'Chandu Champion' now stands at Rs 42.75 crore, as per Sacnilk.

For the unversed, ‘Chandu Champion’ has been produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. The movie also stars Vijay Raaz, Bhuvan Arora, Yashpal Sharma, Rajpal Yadav, Aniruddh Dave, Shreyas Talpade, and Sonali Kulkarni.

The new Hindi movie narrates the story of a sportsman's resilience and determination. It is based on the life of Murlikant Petkar, India's first Paralympic gold medalist in freestyle swimming.

Speaking of this week's release 'Ishq Vishk Rebound', starring Pashmina Roshan, Rohit Saraf, Jibraan Khan and Naila Grewal, the new Hindi film minted Rs 1.15 crore on Saturday, the second day of its release. The total nett domestic collection of the film now stands at Rs 2.15 crore, as per Sacnilk.

The rom-com is directed by Avinash Dharmadhikari and backed by producer Ramesh Taurani’s Tips Films. The production house also backed the 2003 film 'Ishq Vishk', which marked the acting debut of Shahid Kapoor.

Lastly, talking about 'Maharaja', starring Vijay Sethupathi and Anurag Kashyap, the new Tamil film minted Rs 5.50 crore on Saturday, the 9th day of its release. The total nett domestic collection of the film now stands at Rs 47.30 crore, as per Sacnilk. 

All these films will face mighty competition from Thursday (June 27) as Nag Ashwin's 'Kalki 2898 AD', starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, Amitabh Bachchan and Disha Patani, will be releasing in theatres.
