Kartik Aaryan’s ‘Chandu Champion’ Registers Highest Single-Day Haul Yet, ‘Munjya’ Goes Past Rs 50 Crore Mark
Kartik Aaryan’s ‘Chandu Champion’ has registered its highest single-day haul yet. Meanwhile, ‘Munjya’ crossed the Rs 50 crore mark on the 10th day of its release.
It looks like that a positive word-of-mouth is finally kicking in for Kartik Aaryan’s ‘Chandu Champion’. The Kabir Khan directorial, which released in cinemas on June 14, 2024, received rave reviews from critics. It seems finally these positive reviews are translating into good box office numbers. On Sunday, ‘Chandu Champion’ registered its highest single-day haul yet, and the Sunday collection has finally given a chance to the new Hindi movie to end up with a respectable lifetime box office collection.
As per early estimates posted by industry tracker Sacnilk, ‘Chandu Champion’ made Rs 10 crore on Sunday, the third day of its release. The new Hindi movie had an overall 30.41 per cent Hindi occupancy on the third day of its release.
After three days, the nett domestic collection of ‘Chandu Champion’ stands at Rs 21.75 crore. On Monday, ‘Chandu Champion’ is expected to perform decently well, owing to a holiday in some parts of the country due to Eid ul-Adha or Bakrid.
Speaking of Maddock Films' latest horror comedy 'Munjya', starring Abhay Verma, Mona Singh and Sharvari Wagh, the new Hindi movie minted Rs 8.50 crore on Sunday, the 10th day of its release.
The total nett domestic collection of 'Munjya' now stands at Rs 53.80 crore. Now, it remains to be seen whether the film shows enough legs to go past the Rs 75 crore mark.
For the unversed, Maddock Films this week attached the teaser of Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao's 'Stree 2' to the screening of 'Munjya' in theatres.
On June 14, Tamil film 'Maharaja', starring Vijay Sethupathi and Anurag Kashyap, was also released in cinemas, and the movie is doing very well at the ticket counters. On Sunday, the film made Rs 9 crore, and the total three-day nett domestic collection now stands at Rs 21.45 crore, as per Sacnilk.
Coming back to 'Chandu Champion', directed by Kabir Khan, the new Hindi movie narrates the story of a sportsman's resilience and determination. The new Hindi movie is based on the life of Murlikant Petkar, India's first Paralympic gold medalist in freestyle swimming.
The upcoming movie marks Kartik Aaryan’s first project with director Kabir Khan, who is known for helming films like ‘Kabul Express’, ‘New York’, ‘Ek Tha Tiger’, ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ and ‘83’.
'Chandu Champion' has been bankrolled by Sajid Nadiadwala, and the film also stars Vijay Raaz, Bhuvan Arora and Rajpal Yadav in supporting roles.
Meanwhile, Kartik Aaryan will also star in ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’, alongside Triptii Dimri, Vidya Balan, Rajpal Yadav and Madhuri Dixit. He will also star in Vishal Bhardwaj’s untitled next.
Kartik Aaryan will also be seen in an untitled project, backed by Karan Johar. The movie was announced last year on Kartik Aaryan’s birthday.
