Surprise! Sharvari's ‘Munjya’ Outperforms Kartik Aaryan’s ‘Chandu Champion’ On Monday

In a surprising turn of events, Sharvari Wagh, Abhay Verma and Mona Singh's horror comedy ‘Munjya’ is giving tough competition to Kartik Aaryan's ‘Chandu Champion’ at the domestic box office. It is remarkable that ‘Munjya’, on its 11th day at the box office, managed to collect more money as compared to ‘Chandu Champion’ (4th day of its release). If the recent trend is anything to go by, then it looks like ‘Munjya’ is all set to emerge as a big money spinner for Maddock Films.
On the other hand, it is a wait and watch situation as of now, for Kartik Aaryan's 'Chandu Champion', directed by Kabir Khan. As per Pinkvilla, 'Chandu Champion' has been mounted on a big budget, so it needs to keep performing well at the ticket counters. However, 'Chandu Champion' has performed better than Kartik Aaryan's 'SatyaPrem Ki Katha' on its first Monday.
For the unversed, Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani's 'SatyaPrem Ki Katha' had minted Rs 3.30 crore on its first Monday.
'Chandu Champion' minted Rs 5 crore on Monday, the fourth day of its release. The new Hindi movie had an overall 20.67 per cent Hindi occupancy on Monday, as per Sacnilk. The total nett domestic collection of 'Chandu Champion', after four days, now stands at Rs 26.50 crore.
Speaking of 'Munjya', the new Hindi film minted Rs 5.25 crore on Monday, the 11th day of its release. The total nett domestic collection of 'Munjya' now stands at Rs 59.05 crore, as per Sacnilk. On Monday, 'Munjya' had an overall 28.88 per cent Hindi occupancy.
Talking about Vijay Sethupathi and Anurag Kashyap's Tamil film 'Maharaja', which released in cinemas on June 14, minted Rs 6.15 crore on Monday, the fourth day of its release. The total nett domestic collection of the film now stands at Rs 28 crore, as reported by Sacnilk.
Lastly, speaking of Hollywood film 'Inside Out 2', the film collected Rs 1.33 crore on Monday. The total nett collection of the film in India stands at Rs 8.73 crore, after four days.
Coming back to 'Chandu Champion', the new Hindi movie narrates the story of a sportsman's resilience and determination. The new Hindi movie is based on the life of Murlikant Petkar, India's first Paralympic gold medalist in freestyle swimming.
The movie marks Kartik Aaryan’s first project with director Kabir Khan, who is known for helming films like ‘Kabul Express’, ‘New York’, ‘Ek Tha Tiger’, ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ and ‘83’.
'Chandu Champion' has been bankrolled by Sajid Nadiadwala, and the film also stars Vijay Raaz, Bhuvan Arora and Rajpal Yadav in supporting roles.
