Kartik Aaryan's 'Chandu Champion' Facing Tough Competition From 'Munjya', Kabir Khan Directorial Sees Slight Jump On Day 2

Kartik Aaryan's 'Chandu Champion' witnessed a slight increase in collection on Saturday.

Kabir Khan's 'Chandu Champion', starring Kartik Aaryan in a leading role, recorded a slight increase in box office collection on Saturday, the second day of its release. For the unversed, the new Hindi movie, released in cinemas on Friday, opened to rave reviews from critics, and the makers would be now hoping for the positive reviews to translate into good box office numbers.

As per industry tracker Sacnilk, 'Chandu Champion' made Rs 7 crore on Saturday. 'Chandu Champion' had an overall 21.27 per cent Hindi occupancy on Saturday, as reported by Sacnilk. 

The total two-day nett domestic collection of 'Chandu Champion' now stands at Rs 11.75 crore. For the unversed, Kartik Aaryan-starrer had made Rs 5.40 crore on the opening day. This is Kartik Aaryan's lowest opening in nearly a decade. 

Speaking of Sharvari Wagh, Abhay Verma and Mona Singh's horror-comedy 'Munjya', which was released in cinemas on June 7, the new Hindi movie minted Rs 6.75 crore on Saturday, the 9th day of its release, as per trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

The total nett domestic collection of 'Munjya' now stands at Rs 47 crore. On Saturday, the new Hindi movie had an overall 37.60 per cent Hindi occupancy, as per Sacnilk. It is important to mention that 'Munjya' collected as much money as 'Chandu Champion', even after witnessing its screen count being reduced, due to new releases. 

Coming back to 'Chandu Champion', directed by Kabir Khan, the new Hindi film narrates the story of a sportsman's resilience and determination. The new Hindi movie is based on the life of Murlikant Petkar, India's first Paralympic gold medalist in freestyle swimming.

The upcoming movie marks Kartik Aaryan’s first project with director Kabir Khan, who is known for helming films like ‘Kabul Express’, ‘New York’, ‘Ek Tha Tiger’, ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ and ‘83’. 'Chandu Champion' has been bankrolled by Sajid Nadiadwala, and the film also stars Vijay Raaz, Bhuvan Arora and Rajpal Yadav in supporting roles. 

On the work front, Kartik Aaryan will also star in ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’, alongside Triptii Dimri, Vidya Balan, Rajpal Yadav and Madhuri Dixit. He will also star in Vishal Bhardwaj’s untitled next.

Kartik Aaryan will also be seen in an untitled project, backed by Karan Johar. The movie was announced last year on Kartik Aaryan’s birthday.
