Shah Rukh Khan had a memorable 2023 as he delivered three blockbusters in the form of 'Pathaan', 'Jawan', and 'Dunki'. If the worldwide box office collection of all three films is added, then SRK single-handedly brought in more than Rs 2,500 crore in a single calendar year. In the latest entertainment news, a leading news channel awarded SRK with the Indian of the Year accolade and during his acceptance speech, the actor opened up on the arrest of his son Aryan Khan back in 2021. SRK addressed the difficult times that his family has seen in the last few years, and he also shared the valuable lesson he learnt during this time.

“The last 4-5 years have been a bit of a ride for me and my family. I’m sure for some of you also because of Covid. Most of my films flopped. Analysts started writing my death knells,” he said before comparing the trade analysts to “idiots”.

SRK then talked about the difficulties he along with his family faced on a “personal” level as he seemingly spoke about Aryan’s arrest back in 2021 during the Cordelia cruise drugs bust.

“On a personal level, a bit of bothersome and unpleasant things also happened to say the least, which made me learn a lesson. That be quiet, be very quiet and work hard with dignity. When you think everything is good, suddenly out of nowhere, life will come and hit you," he said.

“But this is the time when you need to be the hopeful, honest storyteller," he added. The superstar then ended his speech by quoting a line from his film 'Om Shanti Om' implying that if it isn’t a happy ending, that only means that the story is still left to be told.

“Some years back, when I used to get awards, I decided that every award I get, I take it as a gift for one of my kids. It will bring cheer to their lives. I truly believe in the last four-five years that my family has seen, my children have seen, my wife has seen, I think nobody deserves a bigger cheer right now than them. So I am taking this award back home for them,” Shah Rukh said.

On the work front, SRK was last seen in Rajkumar Hirani's 'Dunki', which also stars Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Boman Irani, Anil Grover and Vikram Kochhar.

The film has made more than Rs 220 crore in India and globally, it has crossed the Rs 450 crore mark.
