The grand wedding reception of Sooraj Barjatya's daughter was attended by stars like Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Rani Mukerji, Vicky Kaushal and Anil Kapoor, among others.
Veteran filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya recently hosted a grand wedding reception in Mumbai to celebrate the marriage of his daughter Eesha Barjatya and her husband Abhishek. Known for immortalising the charm of the big fat Indian wedding in films like ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!’, Barjatya now celebrated a joyous occasion within his own family. The star-studded reception, held on Thursday, saw several prominent names from the film industry in attendance as they gathered to bless the newlyweds.
Among the early arrivals was Salman Khan, who attended the event under tight security. The actor shares a long-standing association with Sooraj Barjatya, having launched his career with the director’s 1989 classic ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’. The duo later collaborated on several memorable films including ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!’ (1994), ‘Hum Saath-Saath Hain’ (1999) and ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ (2015). For the occasion, Salman chose a royal blue shirt paired with a matching blazer and trousers, completing the look with a black tie and shoes as he posed for the paparazzi.
Aamir Khan also attended the celebration with his son Junaid Khan. Their appearance came just a day after the trailer launch of Junaid’s upcoming romantic comedy ‘Ek Din’, which is being co-produced by Aamir Khan Productions and filmmaker Mansoor Khan. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on May 1. For the reception, Aamir wore a blue shirt with a dark suit and matching trousers, while Junaid opted for a dark blue kurta paired with white pyjamas.

Veteran actress Rekha was seen arriving in an elegant green, gold and beige saree, smiling warmly as she greeted photographers.

Actress Rani Mukerji also attended the event, wearing a white and green embellished suit. While Rani has not worked with Barjatya directly, her husband Aditya Chopra shares a long association with the filmmaker, both having made their directorial debuts around the same period with iconic romantic films ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’ and ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’.

Actor Vicky Kaushal arrived at the reception with his father, action director Sham Kaushal. Vicky chose a sophisticated beige suit for the occasion.
Long-time neighbours and collaborators Anil Kapoor and Anupam Kher were also spotted together at the venue, posing for the paparazzi. While Anil Kapoor’s daughter Sonam Kapoor worked with Barjatya in ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’, Anupam Kher has had a long association with the filmmaker since ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!’ and will also appear in his upcoming directorial project ‘Yeh Prem Mol Liya’.
Producer Boney Kapoor also attended the reception. Veteran actor Poonam Dhillon arrived with her daughter Paloma Thakeria, who made her acting debut in ‘Dono’, the 2023 romantic drama directed by Sooraj Barjatya’s son Avnish Barjatya.
Several other prominent personalities from the film industry were also seen at the event, including Tabu, Rajkumar Hirani, Sonu Sood, Supriya Pathak, Imtiaz Ali, Udit Narayan, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Sonali Bendre, Sharvari, Neena Gupta, Jackie Shroff, Rakesh Roshan, Boman Irani, Sunny Deol, Shaan, Dilip Joshi and many others.
In videos from the reception, Sooraj Barjatya was seen posing for photographs alongside the newly married couple, Eesha and Abhishek. For the celebration, Eesha chose an embellished silver saree-gown, while Abhishek looked sharp in a blue suit.
Sooraj Barjatya married Vineeta Barjatya in 1986, and the couple have three children – Eesha, Avnish and Devaansh. Their son Devaansh got married in Mumbai in 2019, an event that was also attended by several celebrities including Salman Khan, Rekha and Madhuri Dixit.
Barjatya began his filmmaking journey with the blockbuster ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’ in 1989. Over the years, he has directed several successful family dramas including ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!’, ‘Hum Saath-Saath Hain’, ‘Vivah’ and ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’. He also won the National Film Award for Best Direction for his 2022 film ‘Uunchai’.
