Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Prabhas, who are working ‘Spirit’, took time off their busy schedules to watch Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar 2’ at a theatre in Hyderabad.
The Indian film industry is currently witnessing a massive cultural moment as the ‘Dhurandhar’ wave continues to sweep across the nation. In a new development from Hyderabad, Telugu superstar Prabhas and director Sandeep Reddy Vanga were spotted taking a well-deserved breather from their rigorous ‘Spirit’ schedule to watch Ranveer Singh’s record-breaking blockbuster ‘Dhurandhar 2’. The duo chose the newly-opened Allu Cinemas in Kokapet, Hyderabad – owned by Allu Arjun – for their Wednesday night movie outing.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga kept it casual in a blue printed shirt and light-coloured trousers. One fan’s emotional post on X (formerly Twitter) summed up the atmosphere, describing the experience of seeing Prabhas in person as a “full circle moment” for a lifelong admirer.

The film they were there to witness, ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’, is a sequel to the 2025 hit ‘Dhurandhar’. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film features a powerhouse ensemble including R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, Gaurav Gera, and Arjun Rampal. The sequel has not just performed; it has dominated. After a staggering Rs 165 crore opening day, the film has officially surged past the Rs 1040 crore mark at the domestic box office, effectively shattering the record previously held by ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’. With a global total exceeding Rs 1600 crore, ‘Dhurandhar 2’ is now inching toward the domestic net collection record of Allu Arjun’s ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’, which stands at Rs 1234.10 crore.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s presence at the screening is no surprise to industry insiders. The filmmaker has been a vocal supporter of the franchise since its inception, previously praising Aditya Dhar’s “masculine spine” in filmmaking and the effortless performances of Ranveer Singh and Akshay Khanna.
However, the outing also brings back into focus the much-discussed production of ‘Spirit’. While Prabhas and Sandeep Reddy Vanga appear in high spirits, the project has seen its share of headlines over the past few months. Most notably, Deepika Padukone, who was initially signed as the female lead, exited the film following a breakdown in negotiations. As per reports, ‘Piku’ actress requested a fixed 8-hour shooting schedule to balance work with her responsibilities as a new mother to her daughter, Dua. Sandeep Reddy Vanga reportedly did not agree to these terms, leading to a public fallout where the director took to social media to call out “dirty PR games” and accused the actress of ousting his story.
Since then, Triptii Dimri has been cast as the female lead, playing Prabhas' love interest. The first-look poster for ‘Spirit’ released earlier this year has already set a pure mass tone, featuring a rugged, shirtless Prabhas with long hair, bandages, and a cigarette being lit by Triptii’s character. With a cast that also includes Vivek Oberoi, Prakash Raj, and Kanchana, ‘Spirit’ is positioning itself as one of the most anticipated releases of 2027.
As ‘Dhurandhar 2’ continues to rewrite history, the industry is now looking towards Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Prabhas to see if they can bring a similar destruction to the box office when their collaboration finally hits the big screen.
