'KWK 8': In the latest episode, cousins Kajol and Rani Mukerji graced the couch together.

Karan Johar’s uber-popular chat show ‘Koffee With Karan’ returned for its eighth season last month. And ‘KWK 8’ is turning out to be a truly entertaining watch. In the latest episode of ‘KWK 8’, cousins and Bollywood actresses Kajol and Rani Mukerji graced the couch together. The sixth episode felt like a mini ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ reunion minus the leading man, Shah Rukh Khan. Kajol, Rani Mukerji and Karan Johar repeatedly spoke about KJo’s directorial debut. The two actresses also spoke about their off-screen relationship over the years.

On the episode, Karan Johar also shared how he always wondered why Kajol and Rani Mukerji weren't too close to each other, despite being cousins. Kajol then explained that there was some “organic distance” between her and Rani Mukerji.

“I used to wonder what kind of family is this? They’re not even talking to each other. I thought they are cousins, it will all be good,” Karan Johar said.

To this, Rani explained that she had known Kajol since she was a kid, and admitted that the relationship between the two was a “bit strange”.

“Because I have known her as a kid and she was Kajol didi for me and it was a bit strange. I guess when you grow apart you really don’t know the reason why because you don’t meet that often because Kajol didi used to stay in town and we were in Juhu. Me and Tanisha were much closer and we are still. But Kajol didi was always closer to the boys of the family. So, it was a bit strange,” Rani Mukerji said.

On the other hand, Kajol said, “Nothing really like that. It was just an organic distance. Where work is concerned it’s more that both of us liked where we were.”

The ‘Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway’ actress then said that it is always difficult to decipher why people grow apart as they grow older, adding that she continues to be much closer to Kajol's younger sister Tanishaa.

“As families when you lose your loved ones, and I was very close to Kajol’s dad. When you go through tough times, when you go through loss in the family in terms of people you love, I think that’s when everyone comes closer,” Rani said.

Earlier this year, Rani Mukerji and Kajol were spotted together at Durga Puja pandals in Mumbai. The duo chatted with each other, and they even posed for the paparazzi.

For the unversed, Kajol and Rani Mukerji worked together in Karan Johar's ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’. Rani also had a special appearance in Kajol's film ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’.

On the work front, Rani Mukerji was last seen in ‘Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway’, while Kajol was seen in Disney+ Hotstar series 'The Trial'.

‘The Trial’ marked Kajol's OTT show debut, and it received good response from the audience.
