In a revelation that delighted fans, he confessed to having watched ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ no fewer than 47 times. He admitted to quoting the film’s sharp-tongued dialogues in every setting imaginable – from casual dinner tables and professional edit suites to high-stakes board meetings.

Despite his own status as one of India's most influential film personalities, Karan Johar admitted that meeting the stars in person left him physically shaken. “When I tell you that standing next to HER & them today, I felt the ground shift, please believe me,” he shared, adding that while he tried to remain composed, his "knees were rattling" throughout the interaction.

The viral photos captured a stylish trio: Karan Johar and Meryl Streep opted for sophisticated all-black ensembles, while Anne Hathaway brought a pop of colour in a chic one-shouldered blue top paired with a brown skirt. Karan Johar was quick to praise the Hollywood stars for their hospitality, describing them as "warm and welcoming." He even joked that the photograph was so precious it was "going in his will."

The post immediately triggered a wave of reactions from the Indian film industry. Actress Ananya Panday dropped heart-eyes emojis, while Neha Dhupia commented on the magnitude of the moment, stating, “This is what fashion and cinematic dreams are made of.” Director Punit Malhotra added a touch of humour, suggesting that Meryl Streep must have been pleased to meet the real-life version of the characters she often portrays.

The meeting serves as a high-profile reminder of the impending release of ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’. The sequel is set to reunite the original powerhouse cast – including Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci – under the direction of David Frankel. The film also introduces a fresh lineup of talent, including Kenneth Branagh, ‘Bridgerton’ star Simone Ashley, B.J. Novak, and Lucy Liu.

As the countdown to the May 1, 2026, theatrical release begins, Karan Johar teased that there is more to come from his Tokyo trip, hinting at further conversations with the "favourites of the season."

For now, Bollywood’s biggest filmmaker is basking in the glow of a dream fulfilled, proving that even the biggest stars have idols of their own.
