Sometimes on-screen chemistry blurs the line between reel and real, and that’s exactly what happened with Mohit Suri’s ‘Saiyaara’, which hit theatres in July 2025. Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda’s romantic pairing left audiences swooning so much that many began shipping them off-screen too. Their cute public appearances after the film’s release only intensified the buzz, and a viral birthday video of Ahaan feeding Aneet cake had fans convinced that the two were already dating. Now, filmmaker Karan Johar has added fresh fuel to the fire with a teasing new comment.
During his appearance on Sania Mirza’s chat show ‘Serving It Up With Sania’, Karan was asked who he believes could become Bollywood’s next “it couple.” Without hesitation, he answered, “Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda.” When Sania clarified, “Next, is it?” KJo smiled – before quickly shifting expressions, and added, “Oh! Well, they are yet not official… if they are going to be. I don’t know if they are, because I haven’t checked.” His playful tone instantly sent fans into detective mode, wondering if he had just indirectly confirmed the relationship.

The clip went viral within hours, and fans were ecstatic. Under the Reddit post, one wrote, “I wouldn’t mind a KWK with Ahaan Aneet,” while another commented, “She’s so smart and funny –they’d be epic together on Koffee With Karan.” Someone else added, “KJo spilling the tea always! Finally confirming it on their behalf,” whereas another fan observed, “Look at that smile… he knows something we don’t.”
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time that KJo has spoken about the ‘Saiyaara’ duo. At a press conference for the film ‘Mirai’, he discussed their meteoric rise, stressing that box-office success today doesn’t depend on big stars alone.
“Every film has its own destiny. Sometimes big-star movies work wonders, sometimes fresh faces lead the way… There is no fixed formula anymore,” he said. He further added that while many new faces will enter the industry, not every film can create a phenomenon like ‘Saiyaara’. “Box office has no rules… The audience decides what deserves their love.”
Karan Johar also praised the young actors for their breakout success under Mohit Suri’s direction. “Woh superstars nahin the; ab superstars ban gaye hain,” he said, calling them the industry’s newest sensations.
Released on July 18 under the YRF banner, ‘Saiyaara’ collected an impressive Rs 570.67 crore worldwide – firmly establishing both actors as Bollywood’s newest breakout stars.
Meanwhile, Aneet Padda is gearing up for her next lead role in Maddock’s Horror Comedy Universe film ‘Shakti Shalini’. Ahaan Panday will next be seen in Ali Abbas Zafar and YRF’s upcoming action project alongside Sharvari.
And while neither has confirmed the romance, fans – and now Karan Johar – seem more than ready to wish them all the love!
