The entire nation was left in a state of shock when Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan was stabbed multiple times by an intruder inside his own home in Bandra, Mumbai. As the investigation continues to go on, director-actor Akashdeep Sabir, who was last seen in Alia Bhatt’s ‘Jigra’, has taunted Kareena, saying she comes with a price tag of Rs 21 crore, still, she wasn't able to afford a watchman outside her house. Akashdeep and her wife Sheeba also spoke about pay parity between male and female actors within the industry.

In a recent conversation with Lehren Retro, Akashdeep and Sheeba claimed that it was Allu Arjun who brought the audience to theatres and not the female lead Rashmika Mandanna, justifying why she reportedly received just Rs 10 crore, while Allu Arjun earned over Rs 100 crore for his role in the film.

While discussing this, Akashdeep took a dig at Kareena Kapoor and said, “This is why Kareena, with a price tag (fee) of Rs 21 crore couldn’t afford a watchman outside her house. When you will pay them Rs 100 crore, maybe then they can afford security or a driver at night.” Laughing, he teased, “Auto!”

The actor-director further shared, “(When I met her) Kareena was a bachchi (a child). I fought on TV debates to support Saif and Kareena. I directed and produced Karishma, which was Karisma Kapoor’s debut on Sahara. Kareena wasn’t an actress, she was a baby then.”

He added, “Dignified and very distinguished couple, but I had no answer for two things in the debate when they used to ask me ‘Why was there no security guard outside the house…’ It might be a safe building with 30 CCTV’s but how will a CCTV bring a hand out and stop the robber? It can only help you solve the crime, not stop the crime.”

He listed the second question that he couldn’t answer at debates is the couple “not having a full time driver at night”.

To this, Akashdeep’s wife said, “Most Mumbai house don’t have the space for staff over night.” Akashdeep and the interviewer then listed the couple’s net worth.

To this Sheeba said, “I shall phone them up and ask them.” Akashdeep then said, “They have been through a lot, I think we should let them recover. The media is making an issue out of nothing.”

For the unversed, Akashdeep is known for helming films such as 'Ghaath' and 'Miss 420'.

Coming back to Saif Ali Khan’s stabbing incident, the alleged Bangladesh resident who attacked the actor was recently caught by the police. About thirty teams were formed to investigate the brutal attack.

For the unversed, Saif Ali Khan was attacked in the early hours of January 16 inside his Bandra residence in Mumbai. He was then rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. The actor was finally discharged on January 21.
