Nearly two decades after ‘Awarapan’ became one of Emraan Hashmi's most beloved films, the actor is stepping back into the shoes of Shivam Pandit. The makers unveiled the much-awaited trailer of ‘Awarapan 2’ on Thursday, offering fans a first look at the long-awaited sequel that blends intense action, emotional drama and a haunting sense of unfinished destiny. The trailer revisits Shivam as a man still carrying the scars of his past.

The memories of Aaliyah, played by Shriya Saran in the original film, continue to shape his life, while a quest for redemption and vengeance drives him into another dangerous chapter. Emraan effortlessly slips back into the role, recreating the brooding intensity that made the character memorable.

The opening sequence immediately sets the tone. Shivam is shown hanging from a metal structure in heavy rain with a steel rod piercing his chest, before the trailer introduces Shabana Azmi's formidable character, Nafisa. As the trailer unfolds, it shifts between explosive action sequences and emotionally charged moments.
Disha Patani makes her first appearance as Zara, hinting at a significant role in Shivam's journey, while several new villains emerge to complicate his mission. A powerful dialogue about Shivam's long-standing relationship with death reinforces the film's darker emotional undertones.
One of the trailer's standout moments sees an injured Shivam being cared for by a group of monks before returning to the battlefield. The sequence is followed by a barrage of stylised fight scenes, gun battles and tense confrontations, all building towards a climactic showdown. Rather than giving away the central storyline, the trailer leaves audiences intrigued, ending with Shivam delivering a menacing warning to his enemies.
The sequel also expands its ensemble cast with Puran Gabbi, Anirudh Rawal, Surendar Vicky, Vijayant Kohli and Atul Kumar playing key supporting characters.
Music, a defining feature of the original ‘Awarapan’, once again plays a central role in the sequel. The soundtrack has been created by composers Mithoon, Jeet Gannguli, Amaal Malik, Ankit Sachdev and Wasif Ahmad, with lyrics by Sayeed Qadri, Rashmi Virag, Akhil Sachdeva and Sachin Singh Chandel. Songs such as ‘Ve Junoon’ and ‘Yeh Awarapan’ have already generated considerable excitement, while the trailer uses ‘Tera Mera Rishta’ to add emotional weight to the high-octane visuals.
Ahead of its theatrical release, ‘Awarapan 2’ has also completed the certification process. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) awarded the film a U/A 16+ certificate after directing the makers to implement a series of edits. Following the approved modifications, the film received certification with a final runtime of 2 hours, 20 minutes and 20 seconds.
Presented by Vishesh Films, ‘Awarapan 2’ is produced by Vishesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt, directed by Nitin Kakkar and written by Bilal Siddiqui. The film is scheduled to arrive in cinemas worldwide on August 14, 2026, with Pen Marudhar overseeing its theatrical release across India. The film will clash with ‘Batwara 1947’, starring Preity Zinta, Sunny Deol, Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal and Karan Deol.
