Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan turned up for the special screening of ‘Daadi Ki Shaadi’, the upcoming comedy-drama headlined by Kapil Sharma and Neetu Kapoor – and what unfolded after the show was every bit as entertaining as the film itself. Videos doing the rounds on social media show the actor spending a relaxed, music-filled evening with the cast and crew, joining in on impromptu performances and soaking up the celebratory mood.

In one of the clips making the rounds, Kapil Sharma took centre stage with a soulful rendition of the timeless ghazal ‘Aaj Jaane Ki Zid Na Karo’. Aamir, Neetu Kapoor and the rest of the gathering were visibly charmed, clapping and cheering as the comedian-actor showcased an unexpectedly tender side. Another video captured Aamir himself stepping into the spotlight alongside Sadia Khateeb for a fun duet of ‘Aati Kya Khandala’, the cult chartbuster from his 1998 film ‘Ghulam’.

Mr Perfectionist didn't stop there. He was also spotted singing along to ‘Papa Kehte Hain’ with Kapil, with the entire group caught up in the easy rhythm of the evening. Between the singing, the laughter and the warm camaraderie on display, the post-screening hangout had all the makings of a memorable industry night. Aamir later obliged the paparazzi with photos alongside the film's star cast.

His enthusiasm for music isn't entirely surprising. Earlier in 2025, the ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ actor had opened up about quietly training in classical singing for two years, calling it something he genuinely loves and likening the practice to a form of meditation.

Directed by Ashish R Mohan, ‘Daadi Ki Shaadi’ features Kapil Sharma, Sadia Khateeb, Neetu Kapoor, R Sarathkumar and Teju Kolhapure in pivotal roles. The trailer sets up a familiar dilemma – Kapil's family is anxious to get him married, and they finally zero in on Sadia's character, who appears intelligent, graceful and ideally suited to a big joint family. The twist arrives when Sadia's grandmother, played by Neetu Kapoor, announces that she wants to get married. Cue full-blown chaos, as Sadia's relatives are pressured to call off the grandmother's wedding or risk losing the alliance with Kapil's family altogether.

The film also marks the Bollywood debut of Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, who plays Neetu Kapoor's daughter – a character firmly opposed to her mother's decision to remarry R Sarathkumar's character. ‘Daadi Ki Shaadi’ is set to hit theatres on May 8.

On the work front, Aamir Khan is currently gearing up for the release of his next production, ‘Lahore 1947’. Helmed by Rajkumar Santoshi, the period drama stars Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal and Abhimanyu Singh in key roles.

Set against the harrowing backdrop of the ‘1947 Partition’, the film was originally slated for a January 2025 release but was pushed back due to extended post-production work. It is now scheduled to arrive in theatres on August 13, 2026, riding the Independence Day weekend wave.
