“The Joke Is On Us”: Hina Khan Slams Shilpa Shinde Over “Shameful” False Harassment Case

In a major controversy that has taken the television industry by storm, the long-standing rivalry between former ‘Bigg Boss 11’ contestants Hina Khan and Shilpa Shinde has been reignited. Hina Khan has openly condemned Shilpa after the latter publicly admitted to filing a fake harassment case against ‘Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain’ producer Sanjay Kohli. The revelation has sent shockwaves across social media, prompting Hina to call out the misuse of sensitive laws and defend the producer as the "real victim" in this ordeal.

Taking to Instagram Stories, Hina Khan penned a series of hard-hitting notes. Although she refrained from naming Shilpa Shinde directly, the context of her statements was unmistakable. Hina emphasised that she usually minds her own business but felt compelled to speak up due to the larger social implications of the issue.
“I usually never talk about anyone, I never comment or react on someone else's business,” Hina began. “I only and only speak up when it is about something sensitive, something that affects all of us as a society especially as women. As someone who enjoys public light and has a position to speak up, I must do my bit.”

She then slammed the tactic of falsely accusing someone of assault, stating, “Yes, using your sex to malign someone's image in order to win during a conflict is absolutely shameful. And everyone is absolutely right to call it out and demand justice. I am shocked beyond words.”
In a subsequent post, Hina shifted the focus to producer Sanjay Kohli. She highlighted the immense damage caused to his reputation, writing, “But I want to talk about the ‘Real Victim’ here. A respected man with a wife, a daughter and many other women in his family. A real hardworking producer with many iconic shows who went through such an ordeal.”
Hina expressed utter disbelief that despite the baseless allegations being used "to gain advantage, to win, to score, to claim, to settle without the utilisation of law," the actress was welcomed back to the exact same set. In 2025, Shilpa made a surprising return to ‘Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain’, claiming she came back because of the show's writer and now shares a good relationship with the entire team.
Appalled by this development, Hina questioned the ethics of the situation: “And even after that, the SAME producer gives the SAME show to the SAME person. Another LAUNCHPAD, another MOUTHPIECE, another RELEVANCE, another CHANCE to legitimise her fake claim of ASSAULT. What if the actor repeats it? After all the actor has been given the same show by the one she FALSELY ACCUSED. I am appalled.” She concluded her powerful statement with the caption: “The joke is on us.”
Hina Khan shared two more Instagram Stories, further calling out people who supported Shilpa Shinde after her recent confession.
The current backlash stems from Shilpa Shinde’s recent appearance on comedian Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa's podcast. Almost a decade after her controversial 2016 exit from the hit sitcom – where she initially cited harassment, non-payment of dues, and a hostile work environment – Shilpa confessed that the harassment allegations were entirely false. She claimed she felt cornered during her contractual dispute and had “no other option” but to make the fake claims, despite warnings from friends. The original matter had ended in a settlement.
Following the podcast episode, netizens erupted in outrage, with many demanding Shilpa's arrest for filing fake charges. In response to the massive backlash, Shilpa released a video statement on Wednesday night. Unfazed by the criticism, she declared she had no regrets about speaking the truth because she no longer wanted to live with the guilt of keeping it hidden. She added that she was unconcerned about public reactions and believed her admission was the right thing to do.
For the unversed, the friction between Hina Khan and Shilpa Shinde dates back to 2017 when both actresses participated in ‘Bigg Boss 11’. During their stint on the reality show, the two were constantly at loggerheads and rarely got along. Shilpa ultimately lifted the winner's trophy, while Hina emerged as the first runner-up. At the time, Hina faced significant trolling after she allegedly body-shamed and age-shamed Shilpa Shinde and co-contestant Arshi Khan. Now, almost a decade later, their complex dynamic is back in the spotlight over a remarkably serious issue.
