Trisha Krishnan celebrated the success of her recent release ‘Karuppu’, sharing BTS from the film set. However, her caption stole all the attention.
May has always been a special month for Trisha Krishnan thanks to her birthday, but May 2026 has proven to be an absolute whirlwind of personal, political, and professional milestones. The actress is currently dominating the headlines, and her recent celebratory Instagram post has sent fans into a frenzy of speculation. On Wednesday, Trisha took to Instagram to share behind-the-scenes pictures from the sets of her latest blockbuster, ‘Karuppu’, featuring herself, co-star Suriya, and director RJ Balaji.
However, it was her caption that stole all the attention: “My magical May said, one more for the win. Just God things.”

Eagle-eyed fans immediately flooded the comments section, connecting her "one more for the win" phrase to actor-turned-politician C. Joseph Vijay’s recent, historic victory in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
One fan commented, “The caption says everything,” while another chimed in, “Code word accepted, one more for the win.” A third user broke down the alleged hidden meaning: “One more for the win: 1-TN elections, 2-Karuppu.” Yet another added, “Everyone understands the caption but we can't prove it.”

The timeline of Trisha’s "Magical May" certainly adds weight to the excitement. It all began on May 1 when she posted, “May (me) has begun.” Just three days later, on May 4, Trisha turned 43 on the exact same day Tamil Nadu woke up to historic election results. Vijay’s party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) – formed just two years ago – emerged as the single largest party by public mandate, making him the first leader outside the DMK-AIADMK duopoly to head the state since 1967.
The collision of these two events sent the internet into overdrive. Birthday wishes for Trisha became tangled with congratulations for Vijay. Actor Lakshmi Manchu posted on X (formerly Twitter): “Happy Birthday to the ever gorgeous and graceful Trisha... I guess the universe decided to give you the best birthday gift with that massive victory. Double celebrations for you today.” Trisha was even spotted arriving at Vijay’s Chennai residence that day, her car mobbed by photographers.
The celebrations didn't stop there. On May 10, Trisha was front and centre at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai to watch Vijay take the oath as Chief Minister – an event drawing over 5,000 guests that marked a moment the state hadn't seen in nearly six decades. Dressed in a gorgeous turquoise silk saree, Trisha was seen wiping away tears during Vijay's maiden speech. She warmly hugged his mother, Shoba Chandrasekhar, and greeted his parents. When pressed by the media on her way in, she simply stated, “Thank you, looking forward.” She later visited Vijay at his home to congratulate him and followed up on May 11 with an Instagram post reading, “The love is always louder.”
Rumours about the iconic on-screen pair – who delivered massive hits together like ‘Ghilli’, ‘Thirupaachi’, ‘Aathi’, and ‘Kuruvi’ – have circulated for years. Earlier this year, reports of Vijay separating from his wife, Sangeeta Sornalingam, further fuelled speculation, though neither Vijay nor Trisha has ever publicly addressed the dating rumours.
As if a historic political victory wasn't enough for one month, Trisha's professional life also soared to new heights. ‘Karuppu’, a fantasy action drama rooted in Tamil folk mythology, reunited her with Suriya two decades after their 2006 hit ‘Aaru’. In the film, Trisha plays Preethi opposite Suriya’s Saravanan, a lawyer who serves as the human avatar of the guardian deity Karuppuswamy descending to deliver justice.
The release wasn't without drama. Originally slated for May 14, morning and afternoon shows were cancelled due to financial difficulties at Dream Warrior Pictures, prompting director RJ Balaji to release an emotional apology video from his car. When the film finally opened on May 15, the audience showed up in droves.
According to Sacnilk, the film raked in a massive Rs 15.50 crore net opening in India. Within just three days, it crossed the Rs 100 crore mark domestically and Rs 120 crore worldwide. By day five, ‘Karuppu’ secured its status as the biggest Tamil hit of 2026, reaching a staggering Rs 161.04 crore globally and an India net of Rs 96.10 crore.
Bringing the magical month full circle, Chief Minister Vijay personally extended his congratulations to the film's team. The makers shared an official statement expressing their joy: “We are overjoyed to share that our Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. Joseph Vijay, has extended his heartfelt wishes and congratulations to our producer @prabhu_sr for the grand success of THE ONE @Suriya_offl's #Karuppu.”
