Watch: Pooja Hegde Overshadowed By Little Boy’s Dance To ‘Monica’ At Chennai Event
Pooja Hegde grooved to her hit song ‘Monica’ from ‘Coolie’ at an event and was joined by a little boy who stole the show.
Even before Lokesh Kanagaraj’s ‘Coolie’ hit screens last year, actor Soubin Shahir had already grabbed attention with his high-energy dance moves in Pooja Hegde’s special number ‘Monica’. Now, a surprise moment from a recent cultural event has sent the internet into a fresh frenzy – and this time, it’s a little boy who’s stealing the spotlight. Pooja Hegde recently attended a cultural event at Sathyabama University in Chennai, where an unexpected guest joined her on stage.
A paparazzo-shared video from the event showed a young boy, dressed in suspenders and shorts, dancing alongside Pooja as ‘Monica’ played. What caught everyone’s attention was how effortlessly the child recreated Soubin Shahir’s signature steps from the song.

As Pooja danced along, she appeared visibly surprised by the boy’s flawless moves, especially when he mirrored Soubin’s choreography. At one point, she even followed his lead, recreating his steps as the crowd erupted in cheers. Multiple clips from the event have since surfaced online, many captioned with phrases like “boy rocked, Pooja shocked,” capturing the crowd’s reaction perfectly. Pooja was also seen pausing mid-performance to let the young dancer enjoy his moment in the spotlight.
Adding to the excitement, actor and dancer Jaffer Sadiq, best known for his role in ‘Vikram’ starring Kamal Haasan and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, was also spotted dancing along. Jaffer is believed to be the boy’s mentor.
The young dancer, identified as Hani, received widespread praise online. Reacting to the love pouring in, Jaffer shared an emotional note on his Instagram Stories. “When you trust your skills, the universe finds its way. This boy was made for this and beyond. He restored my hope and reminded me that trusting the process truly is enough. So proud of you. My boy @dancer_hani,” he wrote, adding, “All credits only to him.”
Social media users couldn’t stop gushing over Hani’s performance. “He literally ignored Pooja,” one user joked, while another commented, “In the video clip, we were shocked with Soubin sir’s dance & here this boy!” Someone else wrote, “If you are goated, you dominate Pooja dance,” while another quipped, “He stole Monica song from Pooja Hegde.” Several others flooded the comments with fire and heart-eye emojis, applauding the boy’s talent.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Pooja Hegde had a busy 2025, starring in the Hindi film ‘Deva’, the Tamil film ‘Retro’, and appearing in the special song in ‘Coolie’. Her film ‘Jana Nayagan’, co-starring Vijay, Mamitha Baiju and Bobby Deol, was slated for a January 9 theatrical release but was stalled due to a delay by Central Board of Film Certification and is still awaiting clearance from the revising committee.
