Vicky Kaushal's 'Chhaava' Overtakes 'Gadar 2' And 'Animal'

There is no stopping the Hindi film as it has been raking in the moolah. The biopic based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj continues to find appreciation from the audience, and the film's box office collection is proof. The Hindi film has already gone past the Rs 500 crore mark. On Monday, the 25th day of its release, 'Chhaava' earned Rs 6.25 crore across Hindi and Telugu.
The total nett domestic collection of the film now stands at Rs 526.05 crore. It is worth mentioning that the film's Telugu version was released in cinemas on March 7.
Out of this Rs 526.05 crore, the Hindi version has contributed Rs 519.30 crore, while the Telugu version has earned Rs 6.75 crore. As per the Indian Express, the Vicky Kaushal starrer has earned Rs 698 crore worldwide, with its global collection at Rs 85 crore.
'Chhaava' is now Vicky Kaushal's highest-grosser, while it is Rashmika Mandanna's second-highest grosser after 'Pushpa 2: The Rule'.
'Chhaava' has now gone past the lifetime earnings of Ranbir Kapoor's 'Animal' and Sunny Deol's 'Gadar 2'.
Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel's 'Gadar 2' earned Rs 525.70 crore in India, while Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol's Hindi version of 'Animal' minted Rs 502.98 crore, as per Sacnilk.
The historical epic has been produced by Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films. ‘Chhaava’ is a period drama that brings to life the legendary story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, played by Vicky Kaushal. The film portrays his courageous reign and starts with his coronation in 1681.
The film sees Rashmika Mandanna essaying the role of Maharani Yesubai. Akshaye Khanna features as Aurangzeb, Ashutosh Rana as Sarsenapati Hambirao Mohite, and Divya Dutta as Soyarabai.
‘Chhaava’ is an adaptation of the Marathi novel ‘Chhava’ by Shivaji Sawant. The film’s score and soundtrack album were composed by AR Rahman, with lyrics penned by Irshad Kamil.
