Horror-comedy 'Stree 2', starring Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee and Aparshakti Khurana, has managed to do the unthinkable! The new Hindi movie, which is slated to release in cinemas on August 15, 2024, has registered the biggest advance booking for any Hindi film in 2024. For the unversed, 'Stree 2' is not a solo release this Independence Day as it is clashing with Akshay Kumar's 'Khel Khel Mein' and John Abraham's 'Vedaa'. The Amar Kaushik-directorial has beaten Prabhas' 'Kalki 2898 AD' (Rs 8.65 crore gross in Hindi) and Hrithik Roshan's 'Fighter' (Rs 8.40 crore gross) to score the biggest opening day booking of 2024 in Hindi.

As of 11 AM on August 14, the total opening day (excluding previews) pre-sales of ‘Stree 2’ is approximately Rs 11 crore gross with over 300,000 tickets sold (without block seats).

'Stree 2' is now looking to earn over Rs 15 crore gross in advance sales and as of now, it is looking likely that the new Hindi movie will beat Shah Rukh Khan's 'Dunki', which earned approximately Rs 15.50 crore in pre-sales on the opening day.

As per industry tracker Sacnilk, 'Stree 2' has so far sold 3,85,197 tickets for Day 1, grossing Rs 11.40 crore.

As per Sacnilk, ‘Vedaa’, directed by Nikkhil Advani, has sold 23,426 tickets for the opening day so far, grossing Rs 56.88 lakh. For the unversed, ‘Vedaa’ also stars Sharvari Wagh, Abhishek Banerjee, and Tamannaah Bhatia.

‘Khel Khel Mein’, which also stars Taapsee Pannu, Ammy Virk, Fardeen Khan, Vaani Kapoor, Aditya Seal, and Pragya Jaiswal, has so far sold 15,104 tickets for the first day of its release, grossing just Rs 55.77 lakh.

Coming back to ‘Stree 2’, directed by Amar Kaushik, the project will mark the fifth movie in the Maddock Supernatural Universe. ‘Stree 2’ is a sequel to Amar Kaushik's 2018 film ‘Stree’.

The plot of ‘Stree’, which was released in cinemas in 2018, revolved around a witch who abducts men at night when they are alone and only leaves their clothes behind.

‘Stree’ opened to wide critical acclaim and emerged as a box office hit. The music of the film also drew a lot of attention, with ‘Milegi Milegi’ and ‘Kamariya’ becoming raging chartbusters.

Made on a budget of around Rs 20 crore, the movie went on to do a domestic box office business of more than Rs 125 crore.
