The records just keep tumbling! Amar Kaushik's directorial 'Stree 2', starring Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee and Aparshakti Khurana, has proved to be a box office juggernaut, and in the latest entertainment news, the new Hindi film which released in cinemas on Independence Day 2024, has now gone past Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone-starrer 'Kalki 2898 AD' to become the biggest Hindi grosser of 2024 in India.
'Stree 2' has taken just nine days to achieve this feat. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, 'Stree 2' earned Rs 16.50 crore on Friday, the ninth day of its release. The total nett domestic collection of the new Hindi film now stands at Rs 308.15 crore.
'Stree 2' has also become the first Hindi movie of 2024 to breach the Rs 300 crore mark. The new Hindi film had an overall 20.08 per cent Hindi occupancy on Friday.
For the unversed, Nag Ashwin's 'Kalki 2898 AD' had earned Rs 293.10 crore in the Hindi version. Overall, the pan-India movie minted more than Rs 600 crore in India, across all languages.
Coming back to 'Stree 2', the new Hindi movie has now earned more money than Salman Khan's 'Tiger 3', Shah Rukh Khan's 'Dunki', Ranbir Kapoor's 'Brahmastra', Ajay Devgn's 'Drishyam' and Kartik Aaryan's 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2'.
'Stree 2' has now also become the biggest hit of Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor's career. For the unversed, 'Stree 2' had earned more than Rs 50 crore on its opening day, and then it followed it up with a slight dip in its earnings on Friday.
For the unversed, 'Stree 2' also features cameos by Varun Dhawan, Akshay Kumar, and Tamannaah Bhatia.
As per several reports, 'Stree 2' has already recovered its budget. For the unversed, 'Stree 2' has been mounted on a budget of Rs 120 crore, as per Pinkvilla.
The new Hindi film's performance is all the more astounding when you consider that it clashed with 'Vedaa' and 'Khel Khel Mein'.
Both 'Vedaa' and 'Khel Khel Mein' have tanked at the box office. 'Khel Khel Mein' is Akshay Kumar's fourth consecutive flop after 'Mission Raniganj', 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan', and 'Sarfira'.
