Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma have announced the birth of their second child, baby boy Akaay.

India cricketer Virat Kohli and actress Anushka Sharma have announced the birth of their second child, baby boy Akaay. The couple made the announcement on their social media handles on Tuesday evening, revealing that their second child was born on February 15th. In their joint statement, the couple has requested fans and media to respect their privacy at this time. 

"With abundant happiness and our hearts full of love, we are pleased to inform everyone that on 15th February, we welcomed our baby boy Akaay, Vamika's little brother into this world," the couple said in their statement.

"We seek your blessings and good wishes in this beautiful time in our lives. We request you to kindly respect our privacy at this time. Regards, Virat & Anushka," the statement added.

For the unversed, Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma had welcomed their first child, daughter Vamika, in January 2021. 

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma had tied the knot on December 11, 2017 at a grand wedding in Tuscany, Italy.

Talking about Kohli, the cricketer is not a part of the Indian squad for the ongoing Test series against England, which India lead 2-1, as of now. 

Initially, Virat Kohli was named in the Indian squad for the first two Tests against England, however, just days ahead of the first match, the cricketer decided to pull out of the first two Tests.

Later, the BCCI confirmed that Virat Kohli will not be a part of the squad for the last three Tests against England as well.

On the work front, Anushka Sharma will next be seen in Netflix film 'Chakda Xpress', in which she will be essaying the life of former India woman cricketer Jhulan Goswami.

Anushka Sharma was last seen in a cameo appearance in 'Qala', starring Triptii Dimri and Babil Khan. Her last full-fledged movie role was in 2018's 'Zero', alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif. The film was directed by Aanand L Rai.
