Sidharth Malhotra's Father Sunil Malhotra Dies; Actor Pens Emotional Tribute
Sidharth Malhotra has penned an emotional tribute to his father Sunil Malhotra, who passed away in Delhi, remembering him as his guiding light and greatest inspiration.
Bollywood actor Sidharth Malhotra is grieving the loss of his father, Sunil Malhotra. The heartbreaking news was confirmed by the actor himself through an emotional Instagram post on Tuesday evening, where he shared a series of deeply personal photographs – from his childhood to recent years – capturing tender moments with his father. In one touching image, a baby Sidharth is seen cradled in Sunil Malhotra’s arms. Another photograph features Sidharth alongside his brother Harshad, posing together during their younger days.

One of the more recent pictures also included Kiara Advani, with Sidharth seen holding his father’s hand during a happier family moment.

Alongside the images, Sidharth Malhotra penned a moving tribute describing his father as a man of “rare honesty, integrity and culture.” He wrote that his father lived by unwavering values, embodying “discipline without harshness” and “strength without ego,” maintaining positivity even when life tested him beyond measure.
Reflecting on his father’s journey, Sidharth shared that Sunil Malhotra had once commanded the seas as a Merchant Navy Captain. Even in the face of serious illness, including a stroke that confined him to a wheelchair, he faced adversity with quiet courage and never lost his grace.
In his note, Sidharth also wrote, “Papa, your integrity is my inheritance. Your strength guides me every day. Your positivity still holds this family together.” He revealed that his father passed away peacefully in his sleep but acknowledged that the void left behind is immeasurable. “I am who I am because of you. And I will carry your name, your values and your light forward always. Love you Dad,” he concluded.
Apart from Sidharth Malhotra, Kiara Advani also posted a moving note dedicated to her father-in-law.
Reportedly, Sunil Malhotra passed away in Delhi on Saturday, February 14. Sidharth is currently in the capital with his family following the completion of the last rites. A source close to the family told Hindustan Times that while the rituals have been performed, Sidharth and Kiara will continue to stay in Delhi for some time to be with their loved ones.
The loss has deeply affected the actor, who shared a close bond with his father and often referred to him as his “favourite hero” and a lifelong source of inspiration. Known to keep his personal life private, Sidharth has chosen to grieve quietly, away from the public spotlight.
Sunil Malhotra, a former Merchant Navy captain, played a pivotal role in shaping Sidharth’s upbringing and career, helping him remain grounded despite fame. His passing marks a profound personal loss for the actor.
Meanwhile, on the professional front, Sidharth was last seen in the film ‘Param Sundari’. Personally, 2025 had been a landmark year for him and Kiara Advani, who welcomed their first child, a daughter named Saraayah Malhotra, on July 15, 2025, at Reliance Hospital in Mumbai.

The couple kept the early days of parenthood private and later shared their daughter’s name in November, lovingly calling her “our princess” and “our divine blessing” in a joint Instagram post.
