Saif Ali Khan has finally made his official Instagram debut.

For years, Bollywood fans have relied on Kareena Kapoor Khan’s vibrant social media feed to catch a glimpse of the famously private Nawab of Pataudi. While Kareena has spent years entertaining audiences with her unfiltered anecdotes and stunning family photographs, her husband has actively kept his own life away from the digital circus. But that era of social media distancing is officially over. On Monday, Saif Ali Khan quietly made his highly anticipated, official debut on Instagram.

Steering clear of elaborate introductions, grand announcements, or internet-breaking family portraits, the actor opted for a notably low-key arrival that perfectly aligns with his sophisticated persona. Launching with a verified blue tick, his official account is under the name Saif Ali Khan Pataudi (@saifalikhanpataudi).

His very first post offered fans an understated, book-themed glimpse into his personal sanctuary. Sharing a carousel of pictures, which included a shot of the actor engrossed in reading – a well-known favourite pastime of his – Saif wrote the caption: “Pataudi Library.. Judging books by their cover.”

Keeping his digital circle incredibly exclusive, Saif is currently following only one person on the platform: his wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan. Naturally, she was quick to follow him back, adding a sweet digital chapter to their relationship for fans to witness.

This public arrival is a fascinating pivot for the Bollywood actor, who has long been vocal about the pressures of social media. In a 2024 interview with Hindustan Times, he confessed to having a private presence online, noting that the endless scrolling often made him consider uninstalling the application altogether.

"I do have the Instagram app, and a secret account, too. I browse sometimes, but don't enjoy it much. And every time I browse it for a little while, I keep promising to delete it and I end up not deleting it," he had shared.

Explaining why he cherished his offline status, he added: "I don't want to get stuck in a position where I have to post other people's things. I really enjoy the fact that nobody is really interested in asking me to promote something because they know that I'm not on social media. So, I get a lot of peace and quiet."

Yet, he always kept the door slightly ajar. In that same conversation, he kept fans guessing by stating, "Never say never. I might join social media. Who knows!" He elaborated, "I love taking pictures, I like recording things sometimes. So, if it's a question of sharing it, I could well see myself doing that quite well." It seems that possibility has finally become a reality.

Saif and Kareena continue to balance their busy careers while parenting their two sons, Taimur and Jeh. Professionally, Kareena was recently seen in Meghna Gulzar’s ‘Daayra’ alongside Prithviraj Sukumaran. Meanwhile, Saif’s recent cinematic outing included Priyadarshan’s ‘Haiwaan’. Released in September to a tepid box office response, ‘Haiwaan’ was highly anticipated as it marked an on-screen reunion between Saif and Akshay Kumar after a 17-year hiatus.

With his official account now active, the internet is buzzing with excitement. Fans are eagerly waiting to see if Saif Ali Khan will use this newfound platform to share behind-the-scenes glimpses of upcoming film projects, indulge in his love for photography, or simply offer more charming peeks into the Pataudi library. Whatever he chooses, Saif Ali Khan is finally online, and he is doing it strictly on his own terms.
